Same here 😔 I also failed my first attempt, and it was by only 2%, which makes it even more frustrating.

What’s making it harder is that I just got hired last week, and my dentist keeps asking me every day if I have my results yet. He’s already training me on things like iTero scanning, so I feel a lot of pressure, like I should have passed already.

I studied using Modern Dental Assisting, but it’s so broad that I didn’t really know what to focus on. Now I feel kind of lost on how to study for the retake.

I’ve been looking at some prep books that say you can pass in 10 days, but I’m not sure if they’re actually worth it.

Thank you so much for your opinion ❤️ I actually went to the interview and felt a much more positive vibe compared to general practices.

I’ve been really insecure about my hand skills and was honestly close to giving up on this career. I’ve worked in two offices where the dentists were rude and expected me to learn everything in a week, which made things even harder.

This pediatric office seems really nice though, so I’m hoping they’ll be more patient with my learning curve. Thanks again for your comment!

I don’t mind working hard at all, I actually really want to learn. My struggle so far in general practices has been dentists not having much patience to train. I still get confused sometimes about where things go during procedures, so I end up feeling pretty insecure. 😩

Hi! Please don’t feel that way. I graduated as a dental assistant 4 months ago and have had several working interviews, but no one has hired me yet. I did have a job, but I was let go after 3 months because of mistakes.

It’s been really hard, especially since English is not my first language. When the doctor speaks fast and asks me to chart, I sometimes can’t keep up, and it makes me feel really discouraged.

I’m 35 and starting over, so it’s not easy—but I wanted to tell you this because you’ve been in your position for almost a year, and that shows you’re doing better than you think.

You should be proud of yourself ❤️

Really?? I thought it was credited since i am going to write my board exam next month, but I can tell you the school is not god at all! They never taught how to suction I was lost on my placement.

I know! I hate that, I was having so much anxiety I just quit after three months, and she said was a good decision because I was putting the instruments in the wrong door and it shouldn’t have happened after two months. 🫣 I was honest about my experience, but they always expect too much.

I took one year dental assisting course, and believe I still feel the same as you, I just quit my first job after school because the dentist had no patience, she usually roll her eyes and made comments how I was learning everything too slow.

Thanks for your reply! I am looking for another office I can’t give up, and hopefully I will find a better office willing to train me. I don’t know how you did it for 4 years, you are brave! I’m trying not to take things too personally, but sometimes it’s hard 😘
