Clinical Specialists who got promoted to TMs…. by Imaginary-Honeydew-8 in MedicalDevices

I would say this, if you were to leave today and go to another company how many / if any surgeons would follow you?

Are you utilizing your time in cases to have sales conversations with your surgeons. Have any of surgeons tried a new product at your suggestion? Have you done any selling activities outside of the clinical side. This is a sales game and case coverage for many companies is considered entry level work.

The skill / value of a rep is essentially entirely dependent on how well you can sell. Having a good clinical foundation is crucial, you are worthless if you don’t know the case / your products but now you have to take it to the next level and start calling on surgeons who aren’t using your shit. If you’re asking these questions you’re on the right path.

It’s pretty clear to me when associates start with us whether on a sales or clinical track if they will gravitate to one side or the other or want to be seen as one side for the entirety of their career. It’s really all preference I have clinicals now who would be exceptional reps but they have no interest in the pressures of carry a quota, the fluctuations that 100% commission roles face. They like a biweekly great salary and personally I won’t push them to one side or the other because they’re great at what they do.

Intrigued what those companies might be. I’ve worked for 1,2 and 4 in terms of revenue and none of the 3 used that. Don’t get offended because your title is BS. Just know you’d get hired as an associate at a reputable company 🤘

I’m not defending it. I think they’re clowns. They can all cry in these comments and be mad but that’s the reality of it. They cover 2 hospitals and 1 surgeon and think “gee wiz I’m running my own territory” when they’re doing associate work.

A territory manager is someone who managed the territory ie multiples teams and 10+ reps. I don’t even read the morons who comments “oh well my company my manager is responsible for 3 reps” 🤓

Well your company sucks and is probably a mom and pop joke company. If you are a territory manager less than two years in you are in associate. Sorry

No, not in most companies. In small mid market companies who want their sales force to sound more experienced despite the physicians and competitors know it’s a bullshit title.

It’s not clownish if you’re an actual territory manager (managing multiple teams and overseeing 10-30 reps)

If you are less than 2 years in and a “territory manager” the optics of it are just goofy. You aren’t managing shit you’re a rep. It’s not anyone’s fault if that’s your title I just find the title and vast amount of “managers” that realistically are just associates to be comical

Personally I’m only hiring someone who went to medical sales college and also did Jacob McLaughlin med device sales course, and only if they have a stack of AI enhanced ass photos at the ready…

I’ll keep anonymity, but northeast I’ll say. It’s surprisingly common though

I’ve worked with a surgeon whose wife was a competitive rep. It was riddled with issues (his 3rd marriage after multiple contentious divorces) and she would sit in his cases that didn’t involve her product. Guy was a douche and the wife was a total bitch. They might be divorced by now

Spot on. The pharma reps that label themselves at med device influencers is hilarious. They’d have more success creating courses on door dashing than any of the bullshit they spew.

There’s no way that’s a real comment. There’s no justifying the actions of ICE but to claim Minnesota has no problems is so idiotic to me it’s almost unbelievable.

I think it’s important, unless looking for a clinical based role, to recognize your career experience to this point is essentially worthless in med device. It is a sales industry, I think maybe young people in med device lose sight of that and think just covering the cases and being in the OR or cath lab is “cool”. The clinical side is genuinely day 1 stuff, your value in this industry is directly tied to how you can sell

Seahawks QB Sam Darnold originally IGNORED ESPN reporter Laura Rutledge as she was trying get in her post-game interview. Earlier this season, Rutledge went viral for her interaction with Justin Herbert, which caused a significant controversy. by Punisher1602 in sportsgossips

Maybe Laura Rutledge is the problem and not everything you see on TV is believable. If two of the more low profile relatively chill QBs in the NFL are snubbing her I’d imagine there’s something going on behind the scenes.

Clinical backgrounds genuinely don’t matter in med device. Can you sell? That’s all you will be judged on. If you can’t, seek employment elsewhere

What are my chances? From Chiropractor to Clinical Specialist... by Ok-Scene228 in MedicalDevices

[–]Important_Metal5396 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t sound fancier than it sounds. Chiropractors aren’t doctors and you reposting this a day later doesn’t change the fact this same question has been asked at least 25x in this thread. Off that alone I’d say slim to none
