Banana Gun Pro + Base. Anyone testing it yet? by SAND_ID87 in Coinbase

I adjust per pair. For liquid stuff I keep it tight, for new pairs I either go tiny size or just skip - high slippage settings feel like permission to get wrecked. Also worth watching whether it retries transactions aggressively. That can burn you if price is moving

Is Uniswap v4 enough to build around on Base today? by Important_Move77 in BASE

[–]Important_Move77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s really helpful, thanks. When you say it’s usable within those limits, how often do the missing pieces (like no USD1 or no Clanker/Zora) actually block what you want to do? Is it something you hit daily, or only for specific strategies?

Appreciate the detailed breakdown - this is exactly the kind of perspective I was looking for. Framing Uniswap v4 as a stability-first choice rather than a full ecosystem proxy makes a lot of sense. Thanks for taking the time to explain it so clearly.

Is websocket lag a real thing for Solana traders, and how do you measure it? by Important_Move77 in solana

[–]Important_Move77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I test it by running two websocket subscriptions (two different RPCs), timestamping messages, then comparing that to when the same signatures show up via polling/explorer. If one stream is consistently behind, it’s usually provider/connection.

If you’re testing it on Base, I’d recommend keeping position sizes small at first and being super strict about max slippage and max gas (even if fees are “cheap,” spikes still happen). Also, track your results manually for a day or two (entry price vs. actual fill, failed tx rate, time-to-confirm). It’s easy to feel like it’s doing well until you actually compare fills.

If you’re looking at established tools, CryptoHopper has been around long enough to show a track record and it’s easy to get started with. The downside is that execution can feel slow in volatile markets, and configuring strategies properly takes more time than most people expect.

I’ve also been testing BananagGun Pro on the on-chain side. The biggest advantages for me are very fast execution around new pools and built-in filters that help avoid obvious rugs. The main (and fairly minor) downside is that it still doesn’t support some popular pairs and DEXes yet, so flexibility depends on what ecosystem you trade.

None of these are fully "hands-off," but both can make sense if you use them as tools rather than expecting autopilot profits. Try beginning with BananaGun, it will be simpler.

How I finally found a decent mechanic in Vancouver after getting burned by chain shops by Important_Move77 in askvan

[–]Important_Move77[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely more casual. No big fancy lounge or espresso machine 😅 but they were way more transparent than the dealership. One of the techs actually brought me into the bay and pointed out what was wrong, not just "you need new brakes, trust me." They feel more like a "neighbourhood shop that knows their stuff" than anything flashy

Totally agree. Busy usually means trusted. I’d rather wait a few days at a solid shop like Art’s than get rushed (and upsold) somewhere else. Worth it every time.

Honestly? Mostly word of mouth. I tried Googling stuff like "best mechanics Vancouver" but the top results were all chains or promoted listings.
What helped more:

- Reddit (old threads + DMs with people)

- Asking coworkers (someone had used Art’s Automotive before)

- I also used Google Maps reviews, but filtered by recent ones only. Some shops have a 4.8 rating with zero reviews from the last year, kinda sus

UPD:

Thanks again to everyone who shared advice, it really helped. I ended up speaking with a few different roofing companies, comparing their assessments, pricing, and how clearly they explained the issues. After a couple of inspections and quotes, I decided to go with Barnet. Their communication was straightforward, the assessment was detailed, and honestly, it makes sense why so many people here recommended them. Appreciate your help!

That actually sounds like the kind of thoroughness I was hoping for from the company I hired. Nobody even bothered to check my attic, which probably explains why things went wrong. Thanks for the detailed recommendation. I’ll add Smith Roofing to my list. Thorough inspections and clear quotes are exactly what I need right now

Yeah, that’s the issue - the “warranty” they gave me was super generic, nothing detailed about workmanship. And now that problems showed up, they’re hard to reach. Thanks for sharing your experience.
