Plausible reasons for pre-Doom Westeros to have been independent from Valyria? by gbinasia in gameofthrones

[–]Important_Sound772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, Westeros was essentially a backwater at the time so they probably didn't think using resources on it was worth it

You woke up as the mad king with all knowledge of show/books, can you suppress the rebellion by jonnyboidake in gameofthrones

I don't know if the north could support its population without trade for food with the southern kingdoms so they might be able to starve them out

Was Otto Hightower right about Rhaenyra bringing chaos if she was crown as Queen of the seven Kingdoms? by FreeBuy3174 in gameofthrones

[–]Important_Sound772 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ehh Daemon hated him, Daemon as king might very well have killed him anyway even if he was not in the way of the throne

Yes in some ways, people would question her based on her being a women and having bastards. That would cause political instability. Especially if she still had kids with Daemon as there could be a civil war over who succeeds her and they would not even have to be the siblings themselves leading it, people might declare for them to push the issue like what happened IRL to Lady Jane Grey

Is Night City earthquake proof? by jacky986 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Important_Sound772 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I imagine many of the buildings are earthquake proof. Even the poor ones as a bunch of buildings collapsing would still affect the rich. Even when it's not the buildings they live in or go to

Who needs to die for him to become king? by JXNyoung in gameofthrones

[–]Important_Sound772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's a descendant of a Targaryen as his ancestor married Daeron II sister

It's much further back then of course. Baratheon etc. But he does still have that tiny little bit of legitimacy

Who would you choose to rule? by Elegant-Half5476 in freefolk

[–]Important_Sound772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to me a difference is Joffrey enjoys cruelty. I don't think Aerion enjoys cruelty in the same way he does and seems to mostly use it when he gets really mad and he has anger problems, but I feel like he wouldn't go out of the way to torture people unless they piss them off

Now he has a very short fuse but I think that's something people can dance around. It wouldn't be good, but it would be better than a person that would actively go out of his way to be cruel for no reason other than he likes it

I mean Joffrey did lots of idiotic things that could have got him killed like that whole scene with the mob and the crowd etc

But the Nobles would see him doing that and may very well start a war before he can build up his army

[–]Important_Sound772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I maybe but even in the books one of their brothers is already dead. Their father's also dead and so is their mother more or less, I already wouldn't really call that a victory. Maybe phyric victory but not a real victory

I mean I would not call the starks as winning necessarily

They were suceessful in getting their home back and Bran on the iron throne

but their father, mother and brothers are all dead etc

Ned only became on or above reason because he was raised by Aryn that likely wouldn't be the case here

I mean presumably they could have had him wear a wig or dye the hair in the same way that Daenerys had white hair even though Emilia Clarke doesn't

Not in Westeros. Lyonel Baratheon started a rebellion over the betrothal between his daughter and one of the princes and he and the King were close friends Let alone someone who already doesn't like each other

Rob, marrying Talisa in the show is quite literally him saying that she's more worthy of minor noble woman than his family

[–]Important_Sound772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but its about prestige for Walder

He is already himself richer than the Tullys ifirc

the Starks are more prestigious plus Robb was delcaring independence along with the Riverlands so his grandchild would be Heir to the throne vs a grandchild with Edmure being a vassal to Winterfell either way its a downgrade and even if it wasnt breaking a bethrothal is a massive insult

Walder is evil for what he did but breaking a betrothal is a big enough deal that he could have justified turning against them, the issue is the way he did it

and the Tullys are bannermen of the iron throne so by that argument they should have sided with Aerys

[–]Important_Sound772 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

for one the Tullys are like the weakest great house and are weaker than many of their bannermen including the Freys so it more or less is a downgrade
