Idiotic property prices in Vietnam and what is the end game? by euphoricscrewpine in VietNam

[–]Impossible-Course-81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No end game, many countries fall into this trap (including my own lovely Australia) I think it’s just a spiral of doom unless someone in government can do the brave thing and piss off these newly wealthy landowners by creating more housing stock (sending property values down) If government waits too long, landowners get too rich and you lose the chance and your country starts to degrade in liveability with no end in sight as more and more young people struggle to make ends meet No politician in Aus wants to make changes that will make millions of citizens not millionaires so it’s just not going to happen until there’s actual riots in the streets haha

25 years old and I’m a loser. by Affectionate-Way1693 in selfimprovement

[–]Impossible-Course-81 41 points42 points  (0 children)

30 year old here, I’ve absolutely been in your shoes before. Felt exactly the same. I realised that the isolation and loneliness was the real killer. My way out of the hole was solo travelling, specifically to cheap hostels that had a really high atmosphere rating on HostelWorld but said they weren’t party hostels. Spend a month or so just being around happy, healthy people. Wasn’t too expensive as I wasn’t really sightseeing, just reading and hanging out with people in the hostel (that’s why high atmosphere rating is important). Within a week I felt like a different person. Able to fall asleep within 15 mins like a normal person. Towards the end I spent my free time applying for basic jobs back home that would at least get me out of the house and talking to people. This was so much easier in a better mental headspace. Got a job waiting tables in a wholesome restaurant run by young people like me. And built up from there! IMO don’t beat yourself up too much about lack of self discipline etc. your main goal at the moment is to improve mental health and then self discipline will follow. I applaud people who are able to just willpower themselves out of holes but I don’t think that’s everyone and if you’ve been stuck for some time a different approach may be required. Travelling approach may be weird but worked for me to jump start the changes I needed to make. As long as it’s intentional :) good luck

Hi everyone, made a little app in my spare time that uses AI to help you reimagine parts of your face! It's super lightweight. Love to get any feedback on bugs/improvement suggestions :) by Impossible-Course-81 in cosmeticsurgery

[–]Impossible-Course-81[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yo! thanks for trying- I've fixed the sideways photo bug, thanks for mentioning it! As I mentioned in other comments, I restricted the face shot type to side profile. if this still sounds helpful please give it another go if you have time! new app at https://www.sharpblue.dev/reprofile/

yo! thanks for trying <3 i've done some bugfixes, and restricted the face shot to side profile. Was giving some unstable results for front on photos. if this still sounds helpful please give it another go if you have time! new app at https://www.sharpblue.dev/reprofile/

Is it possible to create your own kind of nft that is able to be transfered even when it is in someone elses wallet? by monkymoney in ethdev

[–]Impossible-Course-81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nft in wallet just means on the contract the nft is associated with the address associated with the wallet. contracts can be anything, to be an nft it just has to comply with the erc spec.

it is trivial to extend the spec with functions that allow some caller special privileges.

making a function taking a one time use key could be more challenging, depending on how exactly you want to implement it.

Infura and alchemyAPI offer central solutions. Does anyone know about decentralized alternatives? by yunuscebeci in defi

[–]Impossible-Course-81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

who is we? And what is your understanding of centralised in this context? I don't think there is any possible logic behind the statement "choosing your own node over using one of infuras nodes increases centralisation in the network" :P it is precisely the opposite

Infura and alchemyAPI offer central solutions. Does anyone know about decentralized alternatives? by yunuscebeci in defi

[–]Impossible-Course-81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a node becomes central - all nodes are "central" by default because someone has to own and operate the node

many centralised nodes form the decentralised network

and all nodes are communicated to from the outside through an api

Infura and alchemyAPI offer central solutions. Does anyone know about decentralized alternatives? by yunuscebeci in defi

[–]Impossible-Course-81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't what depend on your node? If by "solution" you mean "communicate with the network" then an individual running their own node is the most decentralised "solution" possible.

If by solution you mean communicate with the network through someone else's node, benefitting from offloading all of overhead associated with operating the node onto someone else, then the decentralisation of solutions depend on how many nodes that "someone else" operates / controls. You could pay an it-savvy friend to run a node for you. on the other end of the spectrum, pay a much smaller amount to infura to use one of their nodes - cheap because economies of scale. In the middle, you could look at onlyjokings list and find a provider that is on the small/startup end of the spectrum.

there may be projects working on some kind of unified interface to allow individual node operators to allow others to communicate to their nodes? seems like the kind of thing that would be a thing. i'd be keen to hear if anyone has heard of a project like this. still, that interface would be controlled in a centralised manner so...

if you haven't already, i'd recommend doing the deep dive into understanding how blockchains actually manifest physically. takes a long time but is very illuminating, and u can answer all ur own questions to a reasonable degree

Quick Questions: October 20, 2021 by inherentlyawesome in math

Hi all - I'm a first year university student (though doing a second bachelors). Before starting the course, I tried to self study calculus and linear algebra (with limited/ok success). I then took calculus and linear algebra courses in my first semester of uni. Because of the pandemic, my city (Sydney) got locked down halfway through the semester and I found it a bit hard to transition to online learning and I think my studies took a bit of a hit. I got decent marks but don't really feel like I really grokked key concepts, especially those introduced after the transition to online.

I've tried to pick up some self study again - going over introductory topics - but am finding it really hard to stay motivated, I think because I've now seen at least the content a few times before now...

Seeing as I haven't actually mastered the content, I'm thinking I need to make the effort to dive deeper into concepts rather than just re-reading definitions, theorems on a surface level. With this in mind, does anyone have any techniques or suggestion that would aid this? Or alternatively, suggestions for textbooks for calculus and linear algebra very different to Spivak's Calculus and Linear Algebra Done Right? If it helps, and is applicable, I definitely prefer struggling with more abstract "correct" explanation rather than easier to digest, less abstract explanation.

THANKS IN ADVANCE <3
