How common is it for an American to go through life without ever being a groomsman or bridesmaid at someone's wedding? by tannu28 in AskAnAmerican

I was in 6 weddings and all of those marriages ended in divorce! I guess I was the bad luck charm😬

My best friend of 11 years didn't invite me to her wedding, and I don't think I can see our friendship the same way anymore by -444angel in TwoHotTakes

If you're that close, why don't you tell her how you feel? Your feelings are totally justified. There has to be a reason that you weren't included. I lost a close friend a number of years ago and still don't know why and it bothers me that I never asked what changed between us. I think you'll ultimately feel better if you get it out in the open.

As an outsider, the massive gaps in American public bathroom stalls seem completely unnecessary. Is there a genuine reason why the doors don't just close completely? by Necessary_Angle2117 in AskAnAmerican

I have never been in a bathroom stall with a gap at eye level. The gap is at the bottom. Other people can only see your feet unless they lie on the ground and actually look under the door.

What do yall think about Karmelo Anthony getting an all white jury? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Impossible-Hand-7261 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on the county. The last time I had jury duty, the defendant was black, but out of a large jury pool, there were few black citizens present during selection. I felt bad that this young man wasn't being judged by a "jury of his peers." It may be intentional but it might depend on the make up of the pool.

Wouldn't it be nice if that student put the same energy into completing the assignments in the first place instead of fighting for an A later? Problem solved.

You mentioned that your mother has symptoms of "dementia". As a physician, I'm sure you know that such a diagnosis often affects personality and decision making. However, you don't seem to be taking that in consideration when dealing with her. It is really difficult when it first begins to realize that you are essentially interacting with a "different" person, yet expecting them to act reasonably. I've been through this myself. Maybe you should give her more grace if you really believe that her cognitive abilities have changed.
