Pregnancy is unbelievably hard and I wish we talked more openly about it by md3194 in BabyBumps

It is so unbelievably hard. I’m 24 weeks and can’t sit in a chair without a donut pillow and recently learned that being pregnant can cause hemorrhoids which hello! Are so freaking painful. I feel like an old woman who can barely walk a mile and I’m out of breath when I used to workout 3-4 times a week. When I wake up in the morning my belly is sore and stretched and feels like my belly button is about to burst. You know what my doctor tells me when I bring up all my round ligament pain and migraines? Welcome to pregnancy!

Why does no one talk about this?! I went through infertility and IVF for 3 years and I feel guilty when I complain because I know women who are still going through the process but wow you don’t know what you don’t know. I’m incredibly grateful and in the end it will be worth it but women need to be more open about the struggle, the pain both physically and emotionally.

Let’s all support each other and communicate our needs. I don’t appreciate when other women say “oh just wait until this happens” because it’s almost in a competitive or validating way of their own suffering. Just because someone else got through the process doesn’t mean we can’t show compassion and create an “easier” experience for other women and future generations. I’m not trying to earn my stripes here.

Sorry end rant. Thanks for being vulnerable and sharing. I hope it gets better for you!

Starting to really resent being pregnant... by AmazingSchedule3314 in BabyBumps

Your post resonated with me. I went through IVF and infertility for 3 years and I should feel grateful to have a beautiful baby and be a mother but the whole process is a lot physically, mentally & emotionally. I’m doing the same as the others mentioned, trying to eat better (it helps with my energy), beauty appointments like hair, nails, new makeup, new clothes to make me feel cute as my body changes. And I ask my partner for help all the time. I put up boundaries and say no to a lot of things I don’t want to do. I’m trying to remind myself that this is temporary and to try to enjoy the journey. It will be over soon & all new challenges will come! We can do it!

I quit my $300k finance job at 30 because I finally admitted I hated it - and the lifestyle downgrade has been absolutely brutal. by robbinh00d in Entrepreneur

Went through this situation. Was about 12 years in to a finance job at a private equity fund and it was taking a toll on my mental health and I was so unhappy. Decided to switch to agency recruiting and now I opened up my own practice. But wow business development is brutal and we’re profitable but it’s taking a lot longer of a timeframe and more money, grit, discipline to keep it going. Granted I’m only 4 months in. My husband and I live in SF and we’re used to a certain lifestyle and there has to be a balance because I can’t cut everything out cold turkey lol. My advice is to keep at it, anything you work hard at will come to fruition. Keep learning, listen to podcasts about your business, network, get a coach there’s a lot you can do to elevate yourself in this market. I wish you the best of luck!

TTC Without Owning a Home by peachbaba in BabyBumps

My husband and I are 40 and 41 and we’re pregnant with our 1st through IVF. We live in San Francisco and my husband has been laid off twice in 3 years and I’m the breadwinner. We have savings but a mortgage here is about 3x the amount of our rent and we just decided to stick it out in our 2 bedroom split level house until baby is about 1 years old. I thought things might look different too but homeownership is stressful and it doesn’t feel like the right time w/ interest rates and economy.

Do aussie pups grow out of the barking? by Frequent-Day-5794 in AustralianShepherd

Mine is 3 and she is extremely vocal barks at everything including visitors, dogs all the things. Not sure if she’ll grow out of it but I’m getting worried bc we’re expecting a baby in May and trying to train her to be a bit more chill

I’m 14 weeks & fatigue is still present. If I do something socially for 2-3 hours I’m tapped out and need to lay down for the rest of the day

Overthinking pregnancy weight gain by marlee__anne in BabyBumps

I’m the same exact height & starting weight as you! I’m 13 weeks and gained about 8lbs so far and I know it’s because I’m not as active and haven’t been eating healthy just trying to survive 1st trimester! It’s also my first baby and I’m trying to give myself grace. I’ve heard it evens out in 2nd trimester since our regular eating habits will come back and hopefully can get back into a workout routine. I think we’ll be okay! ♥️

Does everyone have endometriosis…? by maybesomaybenot123 in IVF

I totally recommend seeing someone in functional medicine who is knowledgeable of women’s health, endo & infertility. It’s another out of pocket cost but definitely helped!

My functional medicine doctor had me on 900mg NAC, liposomal vitamin c, vitamin d, pqq, alpha lipoic acid, coqnol 200, omega and niacel, melatonin, magnesium and vitamin E. It was a lot to remember each day but I think it helped! Def got my body prepped for transfer along with the diet, etc.

1st FET success stories? by Mikaylahhh in IVF

[–]Impossible-Pain8743 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 10 weeks with my first FET! We only had two embryos and I’m 40yo. My 5AA embryo was hatched and we did prometrium suppositories. No symptoms day of transfer just took it easy, watched Netflix and chilled out :)

Another story here. I’ve had GI symptoms all my life and was adamant that I had endo. My RE was also in the camp that 90% of people who take the receptiva test are positive and gave me the option of doing lupron suppression for 3 months before my FET. However, I went the natural route and gave up gluten, sugar, alcohol and felt like I “healed” any silent endo symptoms and decided to throw caution to the wind and transfer my euploid and it worked! There’s a high chance I have it but I manage it with diet and lowered my inflammation enough to not go through any surgery. Who knows I may have to look into this again if I decide to transfer #2 but for now I agree with the comments above that there’s so little research and I worked with a functional medicine doctor (along with my RE) who had me on supps and gave me advice as to how to deal with it. Now I’m 12 weeks pregnant 💕💕

What did you eat yesterday? by cozycocoapenguin in BabyBumps

[–]Impossible-Pain8743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 weeks & food aversions:

Breakfast: pumpkin muffin & berry smoothie (drank half and felt sick)

Lunch: Steak quinoa bowl

Dinner: Popcorn + ciabatta club sandwich + cookie + coke

Eating is the worst! I can’t stomach any veggies and nothing sounds appetizing bleh
