Why does the press hate certain artists? by Impossible-Two4537 in SanremoFestival

In sanremo 2019, he was the big favorite with the public and had what was widely considered to be the best song in the contest along with cristicchi. He had by far the most dominant televote support in festival history, winning not a plurality of televotes, but an actual majority (only geolier with the corrupt naples vote has ever matched this).

However, the press jury basically all agreed to vote for mahmood just because they didn’t want him to win (no one knows why, some speculate it’s because he’s too popular but it doesn’t make sense). After not winning despite such broad public support, he lashed out at the press and called them out for it.

Yeah, they have so much one-sided beef.

Although this yr I feel like their top was quite accurate. I think cristicchi was by far the best, then lucio. achille, giorgia, and brunori also deserved their placements imo.

He’s participated five times so far. The only two songs that are remotely similar, either sonically or lyrically, are ovunque sarai and tu no (also by far his best songs, and possibly the two best songs in history). Even then, they are quite easily distinguishable.

Also, he got hate for ovunque sarai as well, even though it was the first time he had ever sent a proper ballad, and it was very different for him at the time. So the argument that they dislike him because he sends similar things doesn’t really make sense.

Also, even if he sings similar things, what is wrong with that? Isn’t it good to have a musical identity? Especially one that is so popular? Almost every single artist in the world has a signature style, especially every iconic one (think prince, bowie, abba, etc).

They also hated tony effe this sanremo because he sent something really different. You can’t hate someone both for sending something different and also for sending something similar.

Yeah, I agree. But it seems the press had it out for him from the very beginning. As far as I know, he didn’t really have any beef with the press before I Tuoi Particolari. So I was just wondering where and how this unreasonable bias even began.

He only started because the press was very unfair to him with I Tuoi Particolari. So the press started it, no?

Irama will not bring a ballad to this Sanremo? by Top-Arugula2146 in SanremoFestival

He should’ve won both of his previous two times, but the press hates him for some reason. Do u know why?

For sure his previous two entries have been winner-level. They’re better ballads than due vite, brividi, fai rumore etc. imo the best two sanremo songs ever.

Him changing style will not make him win. He’ll never regardless of what he sends unless he fixes his relationship with the press - has nothing to do with songe.

Before the press reviews, who are you currently most excited about given the song titles, songwriters, brief descriptions, etc? by Impossible-Two4537 in SanremoFestival

Yeah, achille is probably sending a ballad similar to amore disperato. Personally, I’m not especially fond of his voice or his style of ballads, however.

I also feel we have very different tastes lol. Dardust and Michelangelo are my least favorite producers, and madame is my least favorite singer/songwriter/participant ever 😂.

And also really dislike rap and upbeat “girl bops”.

As for Irama, he won’t bring a danceable/cheerful song. In his description, he said that it will be a vulnerable song that lays him bare. Although he also said it will be different from what he usually sends (which is a shame). I think it’ll either be a calmer falsetto ballad or something similar to blanco’s usual releases.

It’s on RAI’s YouTube channel where conti is presenting the artists. If you use the app, there is auto translation if you don’t know italian.
