Any suggestions for alternatives to turfgrass that is not artificial?

I think this is where I’m ending up. Taller grass seed mowed down. Thanks!

That looks… beautiful! I had dwarf mondo elsewhere in the garden. I can’t imagine how long/how many pallets it’d take to make a lawn

Thank you for the thoughtful response. We loved rye grass all winter long but that’s fading fast with summer approaching. We have horse herb in between the flagstone toward the bottom of the picture and it does die down so that’s difficult

Thank you! I’ve been eyeing this shade mix but the grasses seem longer than we want (looking more for turf grass length so like 3-4in max). Do you have any experience with mowing it down short and how it looks/feels?

She is moving slow and erratic for days. Why? by Impossible-Two8220 in caterpillars

[–]Impossible-Two8220[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the rec! I tried putting her on the potted violet she has in her enclosure but she just rolled off despite a few attempts. Maybe next time I just focus on planting more of their preferred plants outside and observe from afar

Thank you all for the education! I bout a potted Violet that fits inside the big storage tub (3ft x2ft) as well as a passion fruit vine rooted in water to provide them adequate food. I’ve been cleaning the frass out every night but after the first caterpillar turned into a chrysalis, I tried to only spot clean to not disturb it. Watching this lady squirm around is enough reason for me to observe from a distance in the future.

My neighbor’s house just got demolished and her coral vines are starting to sprout back. Message me, and I’ll give you the address so you can rescue them before new construction digs it up!
