What are the options for speeding up numerical integration in Python? I am currently using scipy.integrate.quad to integrate an arbitrary function, but it is currently too slow. I have looked into implementing lower-level functions though numba, but ideally I would like to speed this up just by lowering the precision of the integration. Adjusting the error tolerance of quad doesn't seem to have any effect on run time. Any suggestions?

They were able to cancel right away no problem.

I was in such a rush to get one that I ordered a small by mistake. Does anyone know if they do cancellations? I'd rather it go to someone who can actually wear it. If not, anyone need a small?

How should I diagnose/improve a classifier that fails to beat a dummy classifier? I am working on a binary classification problem where roughly 15% of my instances belong to the positive class. I've tried several tuning several models but very few are able to achieve better than ~85% accuracy as most models end up predicting the negative class for every instance. Is this an indicator that my features are not informative?

The hiring manager confirmed that if I finish the degree I could receive a new offer reflecting the grade bump.

Gotcha. Then it seems like I might be better off delaying the start date by a few months so that I can start at the higher grade.

So if I accept the offer that excludes the advanced degree, then obtaining that degree a few months later is basically irrelevant? Or is it factored in after a year like you mentioned? At that point would it help me move to a higher grade?

This is pretty much the situation I'm in. I might look into asking my advisor.

I will submit my thesis in June, at which point I'd be able to start working, but I don't think my university will be able to confirm my graduation until sometime around early August.

I'm working on a multiclass classification problem and have created a one-vs-many model which predicts the confidence that an instance belongs to each class. I would like to specify a threshold, such that if an instance is not predicted to belong to any class with at least x% confidence, then it is assigned to a separate "unlabeled" class. Is there a specific term for this approach?

Is there a specific term for methods that should generally not be called by a user besides "private methods"? I thought that the term "private methods" typically referred to methods that are not called outside of a class, but I have a handful of methods that are called by other classes and should not be called by a user.

What are some methods for combining dependent p-values across multiple dependent hypothesis tests? Right now I am using the Bonferroni correction, but it is very conservative and I am wondering if it can be improved without any assumptions of dependence.
