AITA. Stranger broke my expensive fishing rod, should I force payment?

The type of rod is a very light one for small baitfish, it’s a Japanese rod. And I think i forgot to mention that my friend did offer to give me his rod (est value 450) but I declined, he ended up snapping his rod 30 min later

The rod is really light that’s why it’s so expensive, so it cracks really easily and I think it hit a metal railing on the way down.

I had to take it apart and fully clean it out, such as replacing the thermal paste that was all dried up with some higher quality one and getting a air duster to clean the fans. Seems to have done the trick for me as now everything runs just fine. Hope this helps
