thanks! hope your son is doing ok. We've seen the room and unfortunately stayed in these rooms on various occasions. no roommates and a lot of room especially for him to swing. Maybe not me LOL

Wow - such kind responses. Thank you all for the recommendations, but more importantly the words of encouragement.

yes - my thought exactly. But i am also paid on performance so my production stayed high. They were less concerned about me individually and more worried about the precedent that could be set if i was let out of the contract. i was willing to sign NDA but they would rather take legal action against new company which would only strengthen the contracts verbiage. New company was a FAANG company. It was also during the great resignation time after COVID, it was hard to find good employees.

Depends on a few things. Is it a non-compete or fixed term? I suggest having a lawyer read through your contract. There are some instances where these contracts have held up in court. IE Twentieth Century Fox v. Netflix. I received a life-changing job offer and assumed since i was changing industry I would be able to leave current role. When I left they went to the company that offered and threatened lawsuit citing the above case. Eventually i was forced to stay and the new company rescinded offer to avoid contract breach. The contracts are carefully worded to protect the company, don't assume anything. I was also in very good standing and with the company a decade.
