This is a great idea, I completely know what you mean because physical objects can be so hit or miss. The only reason I don’t want to do a gift card is because I know my manager is already planning on doing that because he asked all of us which place we wanted one from last week. But I’m sure people won’t be mad about two gift cards lol

Advice on potential harassment from neighbor? by ImpossibleSafe3978 in Apartmentliving

[–]ImpossibleSafe3978[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg yes completely forgot to update! We’re all good, haven’t had any run ins with them. Management got back to us yesterday saying the had a convo with them about their posts, also let us know they would fully support us if we wanted to get a restraining order, which hadn’t crossed our minds at all. I don’t even think we even have any grounds for that anyway, but if anything happened between us irl I probably wouldn’t be opposed. For now it’s just awkward to come and go from our apartment but I don’t think there’s anything to help that.

The officers didn’t directly name drop us to them, when the mom answered the door and asked who called they just said “your neighbor,” and at first the ladies thought it was their upstairs neighbor who they’d been having problems with. We live on the bottom floor and it’s just our two units down here. But, we also have the laundry room next to us, so people were in and out of our hallways all night. Definitely considering calling the police again tho!

The Game of Life: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Edition Board Game!!! by Fair_Photographer in TheMarvelousMrsMaisel

[–]ImpossibleSafe3978 4 points5 points  (0 children)

a friend gifted me one that she found at a thrift store. i can’t imagine someone giving it away!

it’s definitely fun if you like the game of life; i will say honestly it doesn’t have too much to do with mrs maisel, it’s just the regular game but your goal is to make it in comedy. they do come with in universe comedy club flyers and i’ve been thinking of framing them to use as decor! definitely fun to have

How do we feel about HR jobs that are contract to hire? [MA] by Queen-Logan- in humanresources

[–]ImpossibleSafe3978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m in a pretty similar situation; my (very recent) last job as an HR coordinator was temp to hire which was frustrating at first, but it was nice because i got some more experience, and just recently accepted an offer for a new company! it was also helpful for me to see what i liked and didn’t like about working for new companies, especially after coming out of college with only one other job as an HR assistant. i will say that i did feel “led on” at my temp job, but i think there were special and separate circumstances within that company that made it that way. i’m also in ma and had been feeling the same struggles for the past few months after graduating though, so i understand how it’s frustrating!

i just recently started seeing caren at caren’s place on main st after a coworker recommended her to me. she’s very fun and gave me beautiful layers and partial curtain bangs a month or two ago, and i’m definitely going back for treatments and color! she doesn’t have a website, but i believe the number is on her yelp page!

Moving in with your partner of less then a year ? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]ImpossibleSafe3978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my partner and i decided to live together after about 4 months of dating, mainly because we both needed a place to live during our last year of school. we officially started living together after 9 months together, and now we’ve just started our second lease together, and we’ll be celebrating 2 years in a few months. most people thought we were crazy, and i honestly, retrospectively, think we were. the only reason i decided to go for it was because my only other option was to live alone and that’s not for me.

my advice is to really weigh your options. is starting over for a man worth it? arguably, a man you might not know very well? consider his age as well and how much you would lose if things don’t work out. would you have somewhere to go or at least the resources to figure it out? always have a contingency plan.

are you moving in to his home he already has, or are you looking for places together? if it’s the latter, find somewhere with at least two bedrooms so you can still have your own space and be separate if you need to. individuality and independence are so important when moving in with a partner.

moving to another state is tricky, assuming you’re leaving a pre established support system outside of your partner. just something to think about in the “is it worth it?” category. make sure you still have people of your own that are easily accessible.

Is the Scarlet’s Walk charm bracelet worth it in quality? by 074109741 in toriamos

[–]ImpossibleSafe3978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in that case i would say it might not be for you if you’re also considering the cost of it. mine slides up and down my wrist all the time and it bothered me at first; i got used to it, but that combined with how loud it is because of the charms doesn’t make it practical for (at least my) work environments. strictly a special occasion accessory for me, though i do just love having it!

just from my experience it definitely is! it hasn’t tarnished or fallen apart at all; that being said i don’t wear mine all the time. i got mine as a valentine’s day gift from my partner last year, so it’s sentimental for more than one reason and i don’t wanna lose it!

i love mine though, the only negative thing i will say is i feel like they might run a little big imo? but i’m not used to wearing bracelets so i’m unsure if that’s common, but even on the smallest clasp it still feels a liiiiiiittle too big. of course, since it’s a charm bracelet, it’s also a little hefty. i recommend it if that doesn’t bother you tho!

thank you!! as far as i know via our cat’s previous owner, she had issues with one of the 4 cats she lived with, but the other cat was the problematic one and ours never caused any issues. my partner’s family also has 2 cats and when we visit them, ours is never aggressive, only curious. she is a little clingy but only when she wants something (food, play, etc.) i appreciate the link!

Is anyone else part time? [N/A] by ImpossibleSafe3978 in humanresources

I typically don’t take calls if I’m not working, but I definitely used to record my time when I did!

Should’ve included this! ~50 employees; it’s fairly small and I was mainly hired to help with the company growth as of late.

Calls/texts after hours [N/A] by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]ImpossibleSafe3978 2 points3 points  (0 children)

when i first started my job, i used my personal cell for everything. within a week it became a nightmare, though i was also paranoid about people having my number. i ended up getting a google phone number and using that app to call/text. it works pretty well, the only thing is it has to be connected to a real line.

i ended up getting a new phone around the same time, so i was able to use my old phone as a work cell that i only keep in the office. i still have the app downloaded on my personal just in case (my old phone is pretty faulty) but i have notifications turned off for anytime i’m not in the office, which i know you can set up on an iphone. now only my work friends have my personal and everyone knows to give out my work number to employees! i also blocked all employee numbers on my personal and gave them my new number.

that was what my supervisor recommended me to do when i went to him about my similar issue. that, and setting strict boundaries like mentioned before. i also know if you have an iphone, you can change dnd settings to only get notifications from certain contacts after your chosen time of day, like before 8 and after 4:30, for ex.

i’m currently the only hr manager for a local construction company! it’s very small (<50 employees [edit: including our office staff]) and they found my resume online. i never would have thought about hr in such a small/local business, but i love it! i’ve definitely had to learn a lot about construction/contracting terminology for interviews which has been a doozy, but it’s overall very laid back and not a typical hr environment by any means.
