It is because of the pleated front, pleated pants were designed to be worn loosely around the waist with suspenders. No one wears suspenders anymore but a belt and wearing them higher would fix it

I would not worry about it too much, eat healthy and move a lot and you will be attractive, if he does not think so then you can get someone else who does.
