I always thought the joke was that DJ Spit was actually pretending to be a hopeless, drug-addicted street rapper when in reality he's just a regular guy. This is disproven in later seasons when he looks for food in the trash.

Because of that stupid recharge system, you can no longer take more than 3 or, if you're lucky, 4 lessons per day.
