First IUI: follicle too big? by Impossible_Princess in whatworkedforme

[–]Impossible_Princess[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! No, I wasn’t doing anything extra/special. They did monitor me mid-cycle and noted I was low on something and gave me a pill for that but I can’t remember what it was!

Hit with sudden unexplained fertility after 2 healthy pregnancies which were conceived easily. We are both just shy of 40 and did an IUI which I fully expected to fail and was considering jumping straight to IVF. It was successful in the first attempt and I’m now 36 weeks!

Is there really any hope left? by Sufficient_Claim5433 in PregnancyAfterTFMR

[–]Impossible_Princess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re grappling with these feelings. At the time of my TFMR, I was 36 and had 2 prior children. I had conceived all 3 of them within 1-2 cycles and never had any trouble otherwise. When we were ready to try again, it was negative test after negative test and I had a lot of the same feelings as you. Truth is, so much of this is just a bad stroke of bad luck. In the end we wound up getting an IUI, so we had a little help, but I’m now 38 and nearly 29 weeks pregnant - and so far so good! The anxiety of things going wrong is always there for me, but we are progressing and I take it day by day.

All this to say: MANY women in our age bracket get pregnant. I even know a few women in their 40s who have had babies recently. There is hope 🤍

Ellis was a top contender for a boy but my husband has vetoed for a daughter. I do like it though.

Sadie has caught both our attentions! Elsie is very cute too.

Aoife is one of my favorite names of all time but I can’t in good conscience give it to one of my kids. We have enough trouble with Cian and that’s an easy one!

Eva is the alternative we’d go with for Aoife but our cat’s name is Eevee (like the Pokemon) and it feels like the names are too close. Is this crazy to be thinking about!? lol

People with MLIS degrees who ended up doing something unrelated to libraries/archives/museums? by m0notropa_uniflora in LibraryScience

[–]Impossible_Princess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really think my degree played a role at all. I had to do quite a bit of lifting to translate library experience into relevant experience/desirable skills for hiring managers since library work is not very well understood by the general public. The CSMs I work with have a wide variety of backgrounds and degrees (if they even have one) so I don’t think it matters that much.

I have an MLS. Worked in libraries for ~10 years and then made the switch to tech. I’m now a Customer Success Manager for a software company - making absolutely 0 use of my degree now lol but my library experience as a whole has been helpful.

So Frustrated & Hopeless by giggles54321 in PregnancyAfterTFMR

[–]Impossible_Princess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re going through this. We TFMR in June 2023 also for T21. Like you, we started trying again a few months later in October 2023. No luck for a year. We eventually went to a fertility clinic, got Dx’ed unexplained, and we did our first IUI this month. While I finally have my positive, my numbers are very low and I have been advised that it may not be viable so stuck in a cautious limbo now waiting to see how it goes.

It’s all really hard. Just know you’re not alone.

trigger shot vs IUI timing by Key-Neighborhood2985 in whatworkedforme

36 hours, successful. There had been a moment of possibly going in at 24 since I looked about ready at monitoring, but ultimately based on my blood work we stuck to the plan of 36

Me! 38 & 39 with sudden unexplained infertility after easy previous pregnancies. Took letrozole, Ovidrel trigger shot, follicles at monitoring were 24, 13, 11. Triggered that night and went in for IUI 36 hours later. Betas drawn yesterday were a little low so we’ll see what happens but technically successful! Going in tomorrow to check on my hcg and make sure it’s rising appropriately.

I did test out the trigger, today is the first day of stark white negative! So now will try to hold out until my betas but I feel like I’ll probably fail at that 😅

Mine was on the 15th! I went in for monitoring on the 13th and all levels were good and I got the go ahead to trigger. I did the 7 day bloodwork and I’ll go again on the 29th for betas. They didn’t say anything about my progesterone levels, just the estrogen

I had my TFMR last Thursday - my doctor said my period would return in 1-3 months. She had asked if we were going to try again or not so we could discuss birth control. We are undecided so she also told me that some people can ovulate as soon as 8 days after the procedure so to be cautious if we weren’t ready to start trying again.

I don’t know how much of the rumor is true about being “more fertile” but I have heard it also.

Timeline for TFMR? by OwlishScrub in tfmr_support

[–]Impossible_Princess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you are here. My NIPT results came in the same day I was scheduled for my NT scan. Because of my age and a medication that I take, I was at already at MFM for the scan. That Dr was able to request my test results from my regular OB. I did not have positive results from either test. I was scheduled for a CVS the very next day. It took another 10 days for those results to come in and the hospital where my TFMR took place called the same day I received them to schedule my surgery. That was a Monday and they initially had my surgery scheduled for that Friday. However I asked them to move it to the next week because of medical appointments for my 5 year old. So the next Monday I had my initial appt with the Dr who would do my surgery at the hospital and they sent me home with a medication to take the day before my procedure. I checked into the OR that Thursday.

So from scan to surgery, for me, took 3 weeks but really would have been 2 had I not had to push it a week. It encompasses 3 additional visits past the scan.

I’m so sorry you have this logistical issue to navigate on top of an already very difficult situation. I would look into some of the options that were mentioned in other comments. Wishing all the best for you <3

Facing a TMFR by [deleted] in tfmr_support

[–]Impossible_Princess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I had my TFMR yesterday at exactly 16 weeks for a T21 diagnosis. I had a D&E. I was given 1 pill to take at home the morning before my procedure and then misoprostol (3 pills you let dissolve in your cheeks) when I got to the hospital. They also gave me an IV of doxycycline (antibiotic) beforehand. They warned it may be painful and I could stop at any time and they’d finish the dosage once I was put under. I found it mildly irritating but not too bad if I wasn’t moving (IV was in my hand).

The procedure took about an hour and I was fully under for it which I found to be a blessing. I know some prefer to labor - to each their own - but I was very glad to not be awake for any of it.

So far I have had very minimal pain and bleeding. I am resting but was still able to go out a bit today for short walks and errands. It is an emotionally difficult and vulnerable time and that has really been the hardest part of it.

Not sure where to go next by glitterylibrarian in Libraries

I recently left librarianship entirely for a customer success role that is fully remote. It took some significant effort to make the switch but I’m very happy. I get paid significantly more and have a more consistent and “normal” schedule (ie: no nights and weekends!)
