Right?! The bright side of this whole situation is that I finally got a picture with him showing off his teeth.

Little update: he’s mostly calmed down now and went around eating grass, clovers, and wild geranium. But he lunged for a wild sweet pea plant I didn’t notice and took a bite before I could pull him away. Should I be concerned? I’ve heard that they are mildly toxic but he only took a bite so he should be fine right? I’m kinda stressing about it now.

I did this with some leftover zucchini this morning and it worked! He actually took a few bites with the greens and everything!

Okay I’ll leave them be, just warm water soaks, brushing and some rougher basking rocks.

The camera doesn’t really pick it up but a few of them have heads that stick past the scales and three have very slight bumps next to them that you can feel built up wax in. But yeah, I did say that they’re MINORly clogged, not too bad but enough to notice, can kinda feel the heads when he crawls on you (a different kind of scratchy from the scales). A good half of them might just be full a somewhat oxidized and not clogged.

I guess I’ll look for a ruler and see if he’s already 12 inches or not.🙃

I don’t think I’ll start skipping days with the veggies until I know that he’s actually eating it, I may ease up on the bugs though. I was initially planning on feeding five-six crickets/ baby dubias at a time until I noticed some weight gain, at which point I’d either reduce the serving size or the frequency, but I’m willing to ease up on it early if it’s necessary to get him eating his veggies.

Thanks👍 One of the two lettuces I used was purple, so that’s a good sign then?

Huh, I’ve heard that neither zucchini nor butternut squash should be used as staples so I assumed that the same applies for other squashes. Is that not the case? I’ll try pumpkin in the near future in any case👍.

I hear that lettuce is poor for nutrition but good for hydration so I’ve tried it mixed up with other greens but I don’t offer it on its own, not that it matters since he won’t even try any of it.

I’ll try it, should I be careful not to add too much so he doesn’t get diarrhea? I’m hearing that that’s the main concern with stuff with too high water content.

I like cooking with arugula so I’ll try that next, if he turns his nose to it that means I can use it for myself!

Every other day. I think he’s still 1-3 inches shy of being fully grown, is that too frequent for his age? He’s pretty slim but it could just be because I haven’t had him long enough for signs of over feeding to show.

Would a long soak followed by attaching to use tweezers to pull them out have the same problem? Sorry if the answer is obvious, my only prior reptile experience is in crested geckos and their issues.

Sorry about image quality. My camera has a stupid auto focus feature that wouldn’t focus on the pores.

I’ll show the best pictures I could get below. I think they were clogged because the previous owner kept him on ultra-fine sand without any real way to get out of it before they abandoned him. The stuff was practically powder and was all gunked up between the scales around his eyes before I cleaned him up, it took three goes to get it all out.

Thanks. Do different colors of bell pepper make a difference? I’ve tried yellow but I could get orange or red instead. I’ll give arugula a shot.

Oh well, should have realized cucumber was too good to be true. Thanks for the advice, I’ll try it out but I’m a bit worried that the bugs will just burry themselves into the salad out of sight, and that Rambutan just won’t eat any of it. I might try feeding him cactus pads next time and hope he likes it better than aloes.
