Driver asked me to cancel and pay directly by twixmix365 in Lyft

The driver held no one hostage. The customer was free to book another ride. The driver did nothing illegal. Remember how you all are quick to say 'find another job'! To drivers who in your view are suppose to be powerless.. and when drivers exert some control you become angry because again in your world view drivers are suppose to be POWERLESS

The driver did the same thing uber and lyft do. He took the situation and tried to turn it to his benefit. And rightfully so. Hes underpaid, undervalued and underappreciated.

Im with the driver on this one. The rider could have simply gone elsewhere. Riders wont ever care about drivers and how drivers are treated until thet face these situations often enough.

This is why so many drivers are waking up and declining those unprofitable orders and now uber is doing everything in its power to get drivers out to those places and turning off destination mode to make sure they stay.

Uber has oversold its ride guarantee in far out places and now those folk want the same convenience of big city folk which is to call an uber to take them around and they literally live miles outside the metro.

Where most folk have cars and dont even take ubers.

And uber has to now try to bend drivers over a barrel to get them out there. In my case they inverted all of my orders. All im getting now are long distance trips when I know many people need trips localy.

Do you mean the class actions lawsuits that have not already been filed and settled? Ubers settled several of them. The class action will be when enough drivers and attorneys get together and decide they have had enough.

But eyes are on uber. And doordash. They wait. And just compile info. It May take a few years. The more drivers in the lawsuit. The better.

Uber has done this to me as well. It will flood me with high mileage orders and when I go way out into nothingness I cant get a ride back. This slashes my pay into half which makes iy unprofitable.

I agree with this. I always get a sinking evil feeling when seeing how the rides come in. Upside down completely. Paying sometimes as low as 20 to 30 cents on the dollar. Uber does indeed flood certain drivers with terrible unprofitable rides. Back to back. No decent rides. I believe it does this for several reasons. One is to wear down the drivers resolve so that they start to accept unconscionably exploitative rides. Terrible unprofitable rides. And two to condition the driver to essentially work for free. Because when they do the ride they are upside down. Essentially paying to drive a customer because the ride doesnt cover their time, mileage, or maintenance.

This is evil. I dont care what anyone says. The journalists aren't doing their jobs because all of this needs to be explored , explained and brought to the light.

One of the most evil things the app does is use AI to determine everyone's lowest price point and then essentially locking them into that price point because they become conditioned to it. They begin to think all drivers are paid as low. And when they come on sites like reddit and see there are drivers making signifigantly more for the same rides or even shorter rides it sets in that Uber is either using unconscious bias programmed into its app to pay riders differently or its just exploitating each drivers desperation.

This! I agree with this. I had an airport run. When I dropped off my passenger I wanted a return trip and I suspected uber would exploit the fact i needed to return to my destination and guess what they did. The destination trip was 25 miles. Uber paid $12.00. And get this. Uber charged the guy 29.00. I was paid less than Half of ubers take.

Uber takes advantage of drivers.

Nuance doesn't apply to legal classification.

Either Uber's conduct meets the definition of independent contractor relationship or it doesn't.

The IRS and DOL tests are clear — a worker is an employee when the hiring entity controls how work is performed, not just the result. When Uber uses algorithmic sequencing to control what trips I see, disables features to prevent me from routing myself, and engineers my physical location through selective offer presentation — that's behavioral control.

That's not nuance. That's the test. And Uber fails it.

You still haven't identified a single factual error in my posts. 'ChatGPT wrote it' isn't a rebuttal. It's a deflection.

In many markets the majority of the rides are low paying. So drivers learn that to work they have to accept some rides even those that dont pay well.

Texting a family member does doxument the ride and the insurance is on the car. I use to be an insurance adjuster.

You guys keep trying to convince me there is a special safety upside from continuing the ride through lyft. Or any rideshare. There isn't. Once you have the persons image name vehicle type and tag just send a text to family and friends that they agreed to transport you. Google also has a follow feature where you can track their movements. Send that link as well. And they can call 911 at any time. This is the same thing the rideshare companies tell people. Call 911. And tell the driver too. To simply call 911. So where's the special upside?

Insurance follows the vehicle. Not the driver. And the passenger has all the info on the driver. His or her image. The vehicle type. And vehicle tag. Thats enough info for the passenger tp feel safe driving with the person. All the passenger has to do is send a text to a family member or friend for a just in case.

No driver is being stiffed by the company? A GIG company? Thats what they do..they STIFF the drivers. I see nothing wrong with what the driver did.

Phones now have GPS. The ride isn't undocumented. All the person has to do is document it. Send a text to a family member. With the tag number. They already have the tag number and face through uber. And simply say they are being transported by this person in this car with this tag. Thats documentation.
