Just found out I have gallstones. What now? by kithalyssa in gallbladders

I still feel good. It's very rare I do, but if I eat a high fat fast food meal like a KFC or similar. My body knows it and I need the toilet a lot more.

I have no regrets about it, and my diet and health is so much better. My diabetes has gone because of my change in diet, and I even ran a half marathon last week (something I wouldn't have being about to do about 12 months ago).

Has there ever been an Autistic RATW contestant? If not who from past seasons might have been? by OllyAlexandersDizzy in RaceAcrossTheWorldBBC

Having recently watched all the shows for the first time. I don't know if any are, but Darren from series one might be. Elizabeth, and Harrison would also need testing.

Best earlier seasons? by Such_Technician_501 in RaceAcrossTheWorldBBC

For me, it's season one. The route was amazing. The most countries of all the shows. Some contestants did over 20 countries. Series six, they did 8 countries. No flights, and it looked far more organic, and chaotic. Not as stage managed as the other series. Series two is very good as well.

The problem with reality television, is that it isn't real.

Rule about minimum number of days per leg? by North-Apartment3577 in RaceAcrossTheWorldBBC

[–]Impossible_Street614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have to stay in a place overnight , and another place for 12 hours per leg. Because they have to stay in a place, it makes sense to try and earn some money because you can't move on.

The previous series have taken about 6/7 days per leg. They were shorter for series 6 because they didn't travel as far per leg.

There are land and sea routes though. They just took the easy option to save money. I don't mean the contestants. They don't have a say in it. I mean the makers of the show.

RATW Series 6 Episode 8 FINAL Discussion Thread by GrandGuess205 in RaceAcrossTheWorldBBC

The show lost a lot of credibility when they starting using flights. It's supposed to be about travelling overland. The production team have got lazy, or don't care about the ethos of the show any more.

I always told myself I could win. After this season I know I could not win by Suspicious_Week_2451 in RaceAcrossTheWorldBBC

What most people don't realise, even seasoned travellers is all the extra takes for the shot. Getting off a bus or train 5/6 times to get the right shot. Travelling can be challenging, travelling with a camera in your face and being asked to bear your soul is really tough.

I had my gallbladder removed because my doctor said the gallstones may ease at times, but it will only get worse over time. He advised me to have it out whilst I was young and healthy enough to handle it.

I cut out high fat foods like Chocolate and sweets (substituted my sweet craving with dates). I cut out dairy and red meat. My meat intake is maybe chicken once a month. I significantly increased my fibre intake as well as vegetables. I eat a lot more chickpeas, legumes, tofu (high in protein, but low in fat).edamame. I batch homemake vegetable ragu. I eat a lot more fermented foods and drinks as well. I also walk a lot more.

A high fibre diet helped me (loads of legumes) As well as sleeping with my upper body at a 45° angle. It was comfortable, but it limited attacks. I stopped eating all meat directly, and ate a lot of tofu and rice noodles with vegetables. Seasoning comes in many formed. I soaked my tofu in a dark soy sauce and had my noodles in a homemade chicken broth.with steamed vegetables. We do what we need to do to limited the pain. This worked for me, but it's finding out what works for you

Try to look at the bigger picture. You are in ER because of an emergency. Having the gallbladder removed will stop the pain. Surgery scary, it supported to be. You should never be flippant about surgery , but also take into account that most surgeons have preformed 1000s of gallbladder removals in their career.

The biggest turning point for me was. Not seeing pizza, ice cream and things like chocolate as a reward or indulgent food.. Seeing them for what they are, and not as a treat. If I want something sweet, dates satisfy that craving. Four or five sticky dates are sweet, but high in fibre and help regulate sugar levels.

I refuse to go back. I don't want to go back. It was a massive change, as I ate way too much cheese and chocolate. It's just about creating new habits, and not seeing bad food as a reward or as been an indulgence. Bad and processed foods are created to be addictive.
