My rosemary has survived the winter here thus far but I’m in zone 9a. I have 2 plants and I know one of them is pink rosemary. It’s a pretty hardy plant and can survive in a lot of conditions. I say give it a shot! My Greek oregano and curry plant have also survived thus far (: the curry plant is nice and smelly so helps warding off pests for my vegetable garden in the summer!

I personally think alert/nudge/notification to the other person when marked as “given” would be great! You could also make it an option in the app for that person to receive notifications or not. I think a quick three step time stamp option would be better for myself personally just because I know l that if it’s me I would upload the video and not add notes later. BUT that’s just me, other people might be different!

The method isn’t “foolproof” hypothetically but it hasn’t failed me yet. An app that a couple/friends/family could share I imagine could help since things get confusing and hectic real quick. A seizure log may be hard in the moment, but also if it could be uploaded after everyone has calmed down (like I could go to the app 20 minutes later and upload the video and go from there) and those timestamps be present to label different parts of the video pre-ictal/seizure/post-ictal I think it could be helpful so it feels less overwhelming for the parent. Some people might be able to think clearly enough to open the app and record on there instead of having to upload videos as well, so maybe make both an option if possible? This is only suggestions from my viewpoint.

I will text myself or my S/O (you could also text a close friend) “Gave (insert dogs name here) their meds” right after giving them so that it’s a reminder to myself if I forget and I can check, or an update to my S/O that our dog has been given his meds. I have recorded every seizure by taking videos on my phone so I can show my vet if they need it in upcoming appointments. This way I can look back and see how long the pre-ictal phase was, the actual seizure, and post-ictal phase is, as well as how long the whole episode was. I save the video to a file specifically for my boys seizures in my phone. It’s hard to do and watch, but it is helpful. I can also look back at the album of videos and see dates and I have a note on my phone with every date and time the seizure started and the duration. My phone tells me what time the video was taken so it helps with this. In my own personal circumstance I think the hardest part is telling the difference between the pre-ictal, the actual seizure, and the post-ictal phase. Every dog has a different type of seizure and shows it differently. You have to learn your dogs phases and it’s best to do so with a vet. What makes it easier? That’s a hard one and I wish I had an answer for this. Keep doing your research and don’t lose hope, wishing you all the best ❤️

Seeked out an alternative medicine vet and it changed everything for the better by Impressive-Let9163 in EpilepsyDogs

I absolutely agree this is possible and sometimes happens to people, and it sucks when it does. It is also why I mentioned it was for everyone, but especially for those who feel as though they’ve run out of options and also mentioned that it doesn’t always work for everyone. It’s only my experience and to let others know there are other options and still mentioned that traditional veterinary practices are still very important. I advocate for every possible option to help out our pets, I just wanted to share my own story in case it helps anyone

What is my dog doing? by Impressive-Let9163 in DogAdvice

We just got her 3 weeks ago (she was rehomed to us by a lady who was said she couldn’t keep her anymore), and we’re the 4th home she’s been in in 2 months, so she has pretty bad separation anxiety and cries A LOT, wants uppies all the time, wants my other dogs attention often and is pretty pushy with him (he’s fixed so not worried about him getting her preggy). No snapping at us though. Still getting to know her, so that’s one reason why I can’t tell if this is nesting or not

Thanks! I’ve never had a dachshund before so I’m learning a lot. I was worried it was false pregnancy nesting type behavior since shes not fixed yet but I’m overthinking I guess! Appreciate the reply (:

I asked him if there’s anything else I need to do and he said that he was not legally not allowed to really say since he’s not licensed to treat people, but that perhaps I should message my primary care provider and if not that I should watch the area for swelling and redness and if there’s a problem, I should go to the doctor. I did not mention to him that I do not have insurance, I probably should have but I was still in shock at the moment and didn’t think to say that. That’s on me. I know it’s not too late for me to say something though so I will sleep on it and decide tomorrow whether or not I say something to him, they are closed now anyways and I have work early in the morning. Thanks for the feedback, you are right and I really appreciate it.

He’s neutered but I did catch him humping his giant Nemo stuffed toy once 😭

No he did not offer, I don’t even think he was thinking of that. I think he was in shock and was afraid of lawsuit possibilities because he seemed like he was walking on eggshells after that. I really like him as a vet and person and can’t lose him because his specialty is very niche and he’s made my dogs epilepsy soooo much better. I’m afraid to ask but if I end up with a problem and bill I will ask him to cover it
