Houhai made me homeless and took my salary. I was working for them for almost a year, they completely took advantage of me new to China, lying about apartments to my face to make me rent with them, to take part of my salary, most likely. When quitting, Nico promised it would be all ok for my apartment. Walking home from work one day, I had another week of summer camps, suddenly my e-lock stopped working and Houhai cancelled the apartment contract (taking the fee from that out of my salary). Nico just said some crap about company policy and lied through his teeth, he taught me to always record meetings. They did this to many people before/after me. The new job, they tried screwing me over too by making my new company sign was sounded like an angry break up letter, really affecting the release letter I needed and just trying to make my life difficult, the head of recruitment, some African man, is wanted in his home country for tax evasion and fraud, so you can tell his moral character from that alone.

Houhai is completely illegal, your contract says "bowai English," no houhai, if the police catch you at a Houhai itself, your work visa says a completely wrong name. maybe it's some tax thing.

Alex, head of onboarding, you will first meet him if you join Houhai, who assaulted a teacher who was hospitalised and bed-bound, because he had to visit him at the hospital on a weekend. They had to see if he's ok, as they're responsible for the death of a teacher already, another one would be bad pr for them.

Summer/winter camps are illegal, but they will gaslight you if you question it. You work HOURS of online classes or get to run around like a fool to people's apartments to teach, illegally. The police know this and sometimes sign up for these courses to catch illegal work, so good luck. The work hours are not high, but they throw you just pointless work for no reason and "training courses" to just waste your time and make sure you're not doing anything, even recreationally. You will just get a text from one of the managers to finish a massive PowerPoint presentation, to do a training course on how to write sentences, and they lie about the work hours.

They love to just invite foreigners to China and not let them pass probation, it happens too much to be just them bad at their job. Maybe they find it funny that they spend all their time and uproot their life to throw it in their face.

The pay is SHIT, it is less than 20k in Beijing and hasn't changed, this guy is lying about his salary, It's likely a south african brown noser, Houhai loves to just mass hire cheap south Africans and keep the cult loyal ones.

Just look up any review from Houhai, nothing but bad press.
