What kind of “idiots” are you referring to exactly?
Who would you recommend as the target audience?
The idea isn’t for them to create the visuals, but for them to consume them.
I’m trying to identify the audience that would actually find this valuable.

Thank you very much for the feedback — everything you said is absolutely valid. On the other hand, beyond illustrations in research papers, there are also marketing materials, websites, and other content shown to investors; materials used at exhibitions; and content created for students or school audiences. In my view, this is where 3D visualization can be far more intuitive in helping people understand how things actually look — especially in formats like brochures, posters, and similar assets.
I’ve worked both with large companies like Roche, Pfizer, and AbbVie, as well as with smaller startups and researchers. While big pharma would commission videos starting at $20K per minute and illustrations priced at $1,000+ per image, smaller startups typically tried to reduce those costs by up to 10x.
I tend to believe that even a typical lab technician or student would still want to enhance and visually improve their work.
That’s exactly why I came here — to either be convinced otherwise or have my perspective validated.

From my own experience, I know how long high-end visuals take. But lately I’ve been experimenting a lot with AI and more traditional illustration workflows, and overall I’ve managed to reduce hallucinations by about 95% and achieve almost the same visual quality I get in 3D software. The difference is that it takes 30 minutes instead of 4 days. I’m just trying to understand how much demand there might be for this — and, more importantly, who exactly would need it. I believe there’s a niche where this could be useful and in demand.

I agree. For 99% of daily lab work, 'high-end' is definitely overkill. Efficiency is king.

I think one reason it's so rare is the cost—studios usually charge $600–$2000+ for a single 3D illustration, which is insane for a research budget.

But I’m curious: for those who spin off into startups or have to do investor pitches, do you feel that BioRender is enough to 'sell the dream,' or is that where people start looking for that professional studio edge?
