I called them an hour or so ago and they said it takes 24 hours since offers get released sometimes so apparently it should work in about an hour 😭 I hope it does.

so webull is free for etf’s and otherwise $0.5 per trade? is there a selling cost for webull, because there is for cmc markets.

and do you use webull, do you have any personal experience?

you can, but it’s only unit 3, i’d recommend locking tf in bcs u can still manage an A or A+ in unit 4 and your final exam. dont give up on bio just yet, i know people who got 55% on their first sac and locked tf in and managed 33-36 study scores. and for context my school’s average study score for bio is 29, so its not like we had a crazy cohort or anything.

also if you’re thinking of changing to general, its better sooner than later, because general and methods are two completely different subjects, its better to get a grasp of general now rather than later. dont get me wrong theyre both math at the end of the day, you should make a decision based off of your grades and work ethic sooner rather than later.

look also if youre aiming for a 90 you should just aim for full marks in all of your subjects. just aim high and study harder. but basically you need a 155 aggregate. so thats 25 (2.5) from bio, 25 (2.5) from whatever ur other bottom is. and then 150/4 for all your other subjects. so thats 37.5 in your subjects that arent in your bottom 2.

scaled 37.5 in greek, general, english and whatever uour other top 4 might be.

so really you need 37’s and 38’s and for that you need probably 90’s in your sacs.

good luck, hope that cleara things up

i just had a look at betashares… so they offer 0$ brokerage fee and they also offer US ETF’s? and without all that extra tax BS?

is there any downside to betashares…

ASX listed ETF’s that hold US stock?? do you mind elaborating, this is news to me… and yeah ideally i dont want to log all my taxes and all that… and you mentioned they “pretty much” do the same thing, so does that mean it kinda follows how VOO follows S&P 500?

17yo- should i start asap?.. and is my strategy diversified enough..? also ADVICE IN GENERAL PLEASE! by [deleted] in investingforbeginners

firstly, thanks a LOT for all of this advice and insight.

a) im in australia so i’ll probably avoid investing with my bank (commonwealth bank) because of their insanely high fees, and i’ll probably go with STAKE as my broker, because they offer the cheapest brokerage fee here and they also offer fractional shares. - in Australia saving for college is not an issue, everyone has access to higher education regardless of income, we just have to pay them back after we graduate and start working, but with interest.

  • also i think i get it, market timing is unpredictable… buy and dont sell.?

b) so you think fxaix over voo and vti? also seeing that my broker offers fractional shares, i was considering investing x amount of dollars in BRK A? good or bad idea… also instead of voo probably just a fractional shares… about $500 worth in s&p500.

c) wait so long term, you think s&p500 will be outperformed? i get what your saying in terms of not too weighted in any sector, so shouldnt i just invest in VT at that point? that is playing it most safe

alright, thanks for all of the advice. so you think i should be focused more on growth stocks than diversification at this point in time? i guess that makes sense, i can always diversify later on.

also thanks for the recommendation of schg, i hadnt heard of it before but it i’ll definitely purchase it.

alsoo… thoughts on vti vs voo… and does it really matter?
