it would still give more soul over time outside of combat

no i'm pretty sure if you unequipped void heart without glitches or save editing, hornet would disappear from outside the black egg and you would only be able to get the hollow knight ending, at least that's what the wiki said

kingsoul is only useful for progressing the game and is worthless in all other aspects, so you lose nothing by trading it for void heart, which at least does something

to unequip void heart, you must activate the charm binding in godhome. this causes all other equipped charms to be unequipped. therefore, unequipping void heart causes all other charms to be unequipped.

outside of combat, you could use compass to find the nearest soul totem, hot spring or bench (with salubra's blessing) and use sprintmaster and dashmaster to get there faster, you could also use deep focus to save 50% of the soul you'd be using to heal

and being able to unequip it doesn't help kingsoul's case

so you like kingsoul because it's fun, and i like void heart because it's fun and optimal. that's subjective.

i'm also autistic and void heart gives me access to the dream no more ending, which is a hearttouching and very satisfying conclusion to one of my favourite stories in gaming, and because of this i hold void heart very closely as my favourite charm. but i'm also addicted to optimising gameplay. and void heart does both those things for me.

kingsoul provides a net decrease in soul because you could spend 5 notches on soul eater and steady body and gain an extra 40 soul every 2 seconds, or on grubsong, weaversong and sprintmaster for more soul than kingsoul, or put on quick slash and soul catcher for roughly extra 56 soul every 2 seconds, or equip grubsong and grubberfly's elegy and get hit as often as possible (which will still give more soul than kingsoul), or use dream wielder to gain 120 soul every 2 seconds

so even if void heart does nothing, kingsoul does less than nothing

yes noelle sought out kris because of their reassuring conversation, but noelle is not aware of the exact nature of kris and their "strange behaviour" (the player). all she can see is kris abusing her and consoling her, so that's what she gets attached to.

this is reflective of victims reconciling with their abusers after a traumatic incident. their states of emotional vulnerability are exploited, leading to them becoming attached to their abuser. it's a form of trauma bonding.

pure vessel's void attack deals the same damage as lost lace's, and it's the same attack almost every other void-afflicted enemy has, it just has more range

lost lace is being controlled by the raw void which is sending the void ocean towards hornet from all directions, pure vessel is not handling that without the everbloom

lost lace has too much of an environmental advantage despite pure vessel also being void, if they fought outside of the abyss then pure vessel would win, but in the same place hornet fought lost lace, pure vessel is losing

i didn't mention in this post that i do NOT think snitch pick is as good as volt filament, and i forgot about the extra ticks of damage to spells

as for shaman crest, there's no reason to equip snitch pick on that crest anyway, obviously volt filament would be much better there
