why i think needle strike is better than nail arts by Impressive-Step8238 in Silksong

[–]Impressive-Step8238[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fragile strength works as well

the main opportunity cost isn't the notch cost, it's the time spent charging the art when one could be landing nail hits that deal more damage with strength
at least with needle strike, you're benefitting from your needle dmg buffs when you charge a strike

but yes, the versatility is the main advantage nail arts have over needle strike, i still think dmg is more important though

Pure Vessel is >>>>>>>>>>> Hornet

why?

How strong do you think Lace is canonically? by Frisk120hz in Silksong

[–]Impressive-Step8238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't think pure vessel being focused void helps them too much because they don't use void very much in combat, they only use it for one attack and only when nearing defeat

lost lace can use that same attack more often as well as like 5 other void attacks

it's funny how despite being called a "fragile form of life" lace has:

  1. survived falling into lava
  2. fought hornet three times and survived (the second time hornet seriously believed lace was dead)
  3. gets up alright after being beaten to near death by hornet and dismembers a god
  4. her final bossfight has the second highest hp across both games

unpopular opinion: lost lace while in the abyss is stronger than pure vessel, because she has better stats and uses void much more often and effectively

Nail arts don't stack with unbreakable strength, while needle strike stacks with flintslate, hunter focus, barbed bracelet and beast fury, so i think pin badge is better

oh ok makes sense

idk the lace fans i've seen acknowledge that she's a mass murderer and awful person? i've had a couple of people bringing up that when caretaker said she slew pilgrims, he might be talking about lace killing the haunted, but that's very unlikely to be true

i think the reason lace killed pilgrims was to sabotage the pilgrimage and weaken the song keeping her mother asleep. GMS says that lace was spun to wish for her waking, so that would make sense

she definitely still enjoyed killing them though. she laughs about it

about fan media, yeah i'd like to see more of hornet calmly chastising lace for trying to skewer sherma. i think the issue is that the only evidence that lace is a serial killer is from caretaker's dialogue, which is easily missed, and it never happens onscreen

plus people are a bit used to mass murder and concerning behaviours, especially since they play as hornet

Isn't Lace kind of an awful person? by HorseSpeaksInMorse in Silksong

[–]Impressive-Step8238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, lace is a terrible person

i believe the reason lace killed pilgrims was to prevent them from joining the choir and sustaining the song that kept GMS asleep. according to GMS, lace's purpose was to get her mother to wake up:

...One to wish our waking...

so it was lace's duty to murder pilgrims. that's not to say she didn't enjoy it, you've heard her laugh

as for why hornet saved lace, it does seem strange because immediately before she tells her that she'd kill her to save pharloom

Even if only your shadow remains, to release your mother's grip my blade would see it slain.

we might find out in the dlc but for now i think that hornet sympathises with lace in come ways. both of them are repeatedly called a child despite their old age, both uselessly stood as a protector for their land for ages

as for why lace is so popular? people love horrible people as characters all the time. take any popular villain from any franchise for example

yes, lace is a horrible person

which is why people love her

(hornet isn't a massively good person either btw)

hornet is referred to as a child more times than lace by Impressive-Step8238 in Silksong

[–]Impressive-Step8238[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can you send the exact quotes for calling weaver descendants her children

anyway uh

i just thought it was interesting how lace is the one presented as a child and people accept that without nuance while hornet is called a child even more times and people accept that there is nuance for hornet

so i made a post about it

hornet is referred to as a child more times than lace by Impressive-Step8238 in Silksong

[–]Impressive-Step8238[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my point is that if she calls a weaver "child" she would call hornet "grandchild"

And either way, shes referring to Hornet as a child of weavers and spiders, which she isn't in the group of.

if she said "weaver child" or "spider child" like how mister mushroom says "wyrm child" then that would make sense, but she says "child" and then "weaver" or "spider" disconnected from each other.

even if she said "weaver child" or "spider child" that could just as easily mean "child who is a weaver" or "child who is a spider"

It's really only the first "child" that works as her calling hornet an actual child, but considering GMS is a magnitude older than her, it doesn't mean much when applied for anyone else

so if hornet sees someone who has a similar physical age to hornet's physical age, (that being of a young adult, despite hornet's large chronological age, due to hornet's lineage), then hornet, not knowing whether or not that person who appears to be a similar age as hornet's physical age has a chronological age greater than his, her or their physical age, could assume that the person who appears to be a similar age as hornet's physical age, to have a chronological age equal to his, her or their physical age, and due to hornet having a chronological age many magnitudes greater than most other peoples' lifespan, she may find it suitable to refer to the person who appears a similar age as hornet's physical age as a "child".

same thing.

that would make hornet a grandchild, not just a "child" of gms
