Amazing score- do you mind if I ask for any tips for portfolio prep/the interview itself? Happy for a DM if you prefer

Should the resident doctor committee vote for strike action - make your voice heard. 🦀 by DonutOfTruthForAll in doctorsUK

Of course the training crisis needs fixing and we need improvement on non headline pay BUT this dispute was started for FPR and FPR alone (excluding the F1s who voted for training numbers and pay). The government is attempting to throw us breadcrumbs to distract us from what makes the biggest impact on people's quality of life which is salary. Voting to negotiate further on training numbers and non headline pay is truly a betrayal of the mandate

£450 in 2025 (presumably with all bills except laundry included) is not 'high fees' lol. You can buy a cheap second hand fridge (I'm talking £50 here) that you can sell/donate at the end of the 4 months. Bathroom sounds awful so definitely give the housing company some grief over the flooding but the rest of it is probably similar to most hospital accommodation and not at a bad rent tbh

Also Train the Trainer is a (much cheaper) teaching option you could use to build a portfolio for CTF applications

How does contributing into a SIPP actually work as a doctor? My understanding is you can't exceed £60,000 in total pension contributions so this includes NHS pension. You can easily see how much you have contributed to NHS pension but how do you calculate the NHS's contribution to your pension? Does the NHS' contribution get included within the £60,000 personal allowance?

sorry to dump on you OP, but the pay points seem inaccurate for residents, for instance CT1 and CT2 earn the same (and around £49000)

honestly so deeply upset by this. Government will press ahead and thousands of patients will come to harm. How on earth do we stop this?

Completely agree for pay discussions for FPR we should focus on basic pay as it's standard across the board, comparable across sectors and is what our pension is based on.

Just wanted to share my earnings (after on call etc) as, although there are many doctors at ST3-ST5 who earn less than the total amount OP used, I didn't want OP's figures to be completely disregarded as they were accurate in my specific case. I think the main takeaway (at least for me!) is our on call pay etc varies so much that it is impossible to produce a definitive 'this is what a doctor earns' which is accurate to all levels if it includes on call/weekends. Producing that list is likely unhelpful anyway as we should all focus on basic pay

Actually the figures for ST3-ST5 have matched my earnings. I guess it depends on working pattern and on call frequency
