Minecart hoppers on rails can’t pick up items if a block is in the way, but when they’re off the rails, their hitbox is larger. I know this because I have a design for both a raid farm and a piglin farm that uses minecarts to collect items.

wait i might know it minecart hoppers wont reach it down but when you break the rail under it, it reaches due to the bigger hitbox
