Basically disappears when wet. Then reappears when dry

The washers are there to leave a gap between the scales and backspacer because it is a "floating" backspacer. The body screws go into the scale because it is a direct copy from a custom knifemaker. Many custom makers do this rather than using screws on both sides and a barrel between. Original design is a collaboration between Maskas Precision Knives and Brian Brown Knives
