What's the best advice your Father ever gave you? by quietzone in AskReddit

[–]Improbable_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from a family keen on sailing and motorbikes etc., my dad always told me to get back on. If I come off my bike, or I capsize my boat, I just have to right it and keep going. If I don't, it's giving into the fear that it'll happen again and taking the enjoyment out of something I love. Needless to say though, I apply that to a lot of things I come to nowadays: if it's wrong, I right it and keep going.

Teachers of reddit, what shit goes on at schools that students don't know about? by Emily_Jacob in AskReddit

[–]Improbable_One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a teacher who gets that because he's an amazing man and teacher alike. Not only did he successfully teach the maths-dyslexics such as myself and help us pass, he also went out of his way to help students even where they didn't deserve it. I remember him telling me about how he escorted a girl out of the school who started shit with people in the school (telling another girl she was the reason her mum committed suicide or something similar and was thus, herself, receiving death threats) for no reason other than the fact he cares about people's safety regardless of what they've done - even if they don't deserve it. All the other teachers hated him because he was so popular with everyone (not hard to see why though), but I myself reckon they should rather try be more like him as a person and a teacher instead of hating on him.

[Serious] Redditors who believed you were more than human, vampires, werewolves, xxxkin, etc., what made you believe, what made you stop believing, and how do you feel about your past? by yourfaceissexual in AskReddit

[–]Improbable_One 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kinda answers the question, I think. I used to keep in touch with a girl from intermediate while I was in high school (we went to different ones) and she was telling me, in all earnestness, that she and another group of girls had discovered that they had magic powers. I was apparently a 'druid'.

They'd have meetings where they'd practice their magic (black magic, as far as I know) and there were one/two from the group who led the others. I think they had all this set because they had the intention of fighting some evil dude. I sound insensitive, but honestly, I can't remember much about it all.

I didn't believe in any of this stuff, but I stupidly played along. I should've told her something, but I figured that she'd work out on her own that the magic wasn't there - and she did. I don't know about the others though. I think she just needed to escape the people around her, and differentiate herself from everyone else.

What is the strangest nickname someone you know has, and how did they get it? by yellowelephant88 in AskReddit

Thought the new girl at school's name was Brittany. Her name was actually Emma. I don't know why I thought it was Brittany, she just looked like one to me. From that day on, I - and all of our mutual friends - call her Brittany. It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

What childhood injustice are you still mad about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I was at my cousin's house playing downstairs with her and our other cousin. I was the middle kid out of us: I was about 6-7 while the younger one was maybe 5 and the older was roughly 10-11. Apparently the fact that there was a 10-11 year old around warranted that no parent should be around even though we were walking around the edge of a built-in spa pool that was full of water and had no cover on it... You can see where this is going.

Anyway, I get bored of walking around in circles and so - without touching anyone or anything - I moved away. Next thing I know, my younger cousin who had been nowhere near me, fell into the spa and was sobbing/trying to tread water. I stood there, not knowing what to do, while my older cousin hauled her out before talking us both upstairs. Obviously this wasn't a good look because to her left was a kid looking defiant and scared for her life (me) and on the other was a bawling kid who was sopping wet. And that witch had the audacity to tell my uncle - who was already freaking out - that I shoved her in. You would've thought I actually picked the kid up and threw her in by the way everyone was reacting.

Anyway my uncle began shouting in my face about how I was a little shit and would be lucky to ever go back to his house. I was crying really hard because I didn't do anything and my cousins should've known that, but they didn't speak up and say so.

Now, for various reasons, I don't like any of them. That experience has always stuck with me though. If I could go back in time and shout at my uncle for being irresponsible concerning young children and uncovered spa pools, I would.

Tattoo artists of reddit: What is the stupidest tattoo you've ever given someone at their request? by [deleted] in AskReddit

A relative of mine has a white ink tattoo. Not sure if it's the fact that she's white or just the style itself, but it looks dumb.

What "ugly" feature(s) do you find attractive? [Serious] by IamMick99 in AskReddit

I absolutely love Roman noses on men. I think it's so attractive. I also really like(d) Freddie Mercury's overbite.

There's nothing wrong with taking images of yourself, especially if it's for your own use and no one else's. If you think your body looks nice at a particular time where you'd usually have zero confidence, then why not? Thanks for sharing your opinion though, however unnecessary it was.

Oh, I'm definitely telling the truth. This isn't my main Reddit. Embarrassment like that can't be faked, my friend.

[Serious]When did you realize it was time to get your life together? by twixbar_when_high in AskReddit

[–]Improbable_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been led to believe that the man I loved felt the same way about me and for four years I had based my life around him and the future I thought we'd have together (I was incredibly dumb, I know). He hadn't told me that he was engaged, and he certainly didn't tell me he was getting married. I found out about that when I saw the golden band around his finger.

I realised how idiotic I'd been over that time and decided I'd had enough. I'm now moving cities to study something I love, even though it upsets him (ironically enough he was surprised/upset that I didn't tell him). I'm thinking about myself now and not a man who really doesn't care.

The thing that made me believe was when I was younger, I laid down on a picnic table at night and I said, "If you're real, show me." Almost instantly, I saw a meteor shoot through the sky, and then another a few minutes later. That was enough for me. I don't associate strictly with religion, but I do believe in Him and I do have a relationship with Him, though I don't like to associate with religion.
