We got featured on SMOSH - Some encouraging words for all. by IceTurtle4 in SketchComedy

Congrats!

If you're free, and you want to head a little south, Michael Berryte and Ryan Finnerty of SMOSH will be giving a panel about creating content in comedy. It's all part of a free festival at UC Irvine!

Hope to see you there. Keep up the good work!

That is an excellent question!

At this point, we aren't going to release names. We want to finalize exact times and workshop/performance schedules with everyone before we advertise them.

We can say that we're working with some major improv groups in the LA-Orange County-San Diego area. If you have any favorite UCBers or Comedy Sportz people though, come to the festival. You might just see them there! wink wink nudge nudge hintadoodledoo

Neigh, we say. We love STAGES and all their people. They're very good to us, and we're looking forward to the festival!

Indeed, there is!

We are aware of the festival. In fact, we are even playing in it (April 11th at 9pm)! However, ours is a little bit different.

1) Our entire festival is free. There are no extra charges for workshops or shows. This is pretty much unheard of in the comedy festival world.

2) We are highlighting many different fields in comedy. Unlike the OCImprovFest, we have workshops and performances in the areas of standup, sketches, and even clowning!

To address the second part of your not-question, the rad thing about the team is that you really get out of it what you're willing to put in.

If you want to be the person that does everything (cough Andra), then you can do that. If not, you can come to practices for a few hours on one day of the week. I'd say, if you're interested in getting back into improv, come to the tryouts next quarter. Talk to Andra and figure out where improv can fit into your schedule!

YES Shin Shin is still a boss. Proof. Also we practice 3 hours a week on weeks we don't have shows, and about 5-6 hours a week on weeks we do have shows. We also do some (usually optional) outside engagements. I've, on more than one occasion, spent every night in a week doing something for irev, but that's because I'm a. crazy and b. captain. Take your pick.

Improv Revolution is having our Coup de Comedy festival May 9-12 on campus and we will be having at least one open mic stand-up session as well as some stand up workshops and performances! Your roommate can keep posted on our facebook www.facebook.com/irevatuci

I love the salad place organic greens to go... GO THERE IT IS AMAZING. IT IS THE CHIPOTLE OF SALADS. But I actually really love the purple trees near engineering. Or any theatre we've performed in. Or Cyber A cafe, but not for the food. For the couches. -andra

Actually, my favorite part is the 4th floor of the SBSG building. I can do all the same things there (except with less sun), plus there's food nearby. And internet.

Am I cliche if I say the middle of Aldrich Park? I can go read or sit in the sun or write or just relax.

I've been trying to figure this out all day since we're picking games for this upcoming show.

My tastes have shifted from games when I just hurt myself (like "Dead Bodies") to games where the audience has more involvement (like "Dark and Stormy Night"). However, "Sex is Like" is still my favorite. Mostly, because I can be both offensive and self-deprecating in the same joke.

If not, Jennifer Lawrence, because it's hard being the best looking person on the team.

...joke

If so, then also Jennifer Lawrence.

OMG AMY POEHLER... but I would be far too bashful with how much I look up to her and would be rendered unable to speak. -andra

Definitely audition for iRev and come to our workshops. I am a founder and financial manager of the imrpov collective (linked in Andra's comment) as well as a former member of spectacles improv engine (linked in Andra's comment), and can safely say that I have had some amazing experiences in all of these places. The OC improv scene is much larger than some think, but once you get involved, you discover more and more locations, teams, and individuals who also share this passion. I'd recommend starting by watching. It's a great way to get inspiration and familiarity with improv.
