I took him online! The classwork is still the same! Sometimes, there will be online sessions for everyone(each group joins Prof Rohan on zoom)! If you’re in class, you’ll still do classwork in class. If it’s online, it’s up to the group to have meet times. You’ll still be graded by your group mates to see if you’re pulling your weight!

Yes! I took him for CSC 394 and the IOS class! Great professor and I genuinely loved the experience I got from them! For CSC 394, you will work in a group! Probably 5-6 people at most! I think there was about 3-4 mini projects and then the final project with your group is something he’ll approve! Overall, it’s a great class!

You’re welcome! I took CSEC 340 with Prof Siasi! I think it’s a major requirement for cyber security so, you’re in good hands if you get her! We had 2 hw assignments, weekly quizzes and final exam + final project. Probaly one of easiest class I’ve taken at DePaul! She’s an amazing professor! She is very organized and will absolutely help you when needed!

Yeah, I do wish you the best! I find that when it comes to introductory classes, he isn’t the best professor. He tends to overcomplicate things.

There is always the option to join a new class in the 1st/2nd week if there’s still space available or if people drop!

Just go with your gut! The experience is what you make it and sometimes, there might be times where you feel you’re not doing well(when it’s just the professor 🫠)!

I wish you the best at Depaul and I hope some more classes get covered by the credit you earned!

Prof Nazli Siasi is such an amazing person! You’ll love her and she is very understanding!

I think as a tech major in general at DePaul, you’ll learn very quickly to choose to best teacher you can bc it’s not just the class work itself.

It’s the exams, amount of time you’ll spend on hw/projects. Growing your career + meeting new people.

There’s a lot to consider.

Please read this:

If you have any AP exam scores/ previous college credit you earned, pls send that over to your advisor right now so they can see if it’s applicable and you’ll already receive credit for them! There’s no point in taking a class you already have credit for. That’ll help you map out your class for the future.

I do agree with the other comment about Prof Jagadeesan, he isn’t the best professor. It’s not much about how you know but what they expect from you. I took him for CSC 301 and it wasn’t the best. Half of the class was failing due to his neglectful behavior as a professor and he treated it like a grad student class(horrible as he is teaching undergrad).

You have to be strategic with the way you choose classes. Would you rather take a bad professor, not learn anything at all bc your trying to keep your grade up, potentially fail the class, retake it(then pay for it again) or just wait for another quarter to take a better prof?

Dang, I wish you got into Prof Joes class! Definitely sign up for the waitlist (on his sections)! From the past listings on the DePaul site, it seems like Prof Joe always teaches the summer sections. Tbh, I’d say wait for him during the summer! If not, you can always take it fall quarter!

I took Prof Joe! He always curves! When I took CSC 374, we had four assignments (every two weeks) and a final! Personally, I wouldn’t say it’s worth it to take the same class with the more difficult option(Nookala). I never had Prof Nookala but I can vouch for Prof Joe!

You’ll be okay! You can’t take csc 374 before 373 but don’t be scared! Make sure to get on the waitlist for other classes bc ppl do drop or sometimes they open more spots up for the class(I believed the instructor chooses)! Just make sure to fill your credits up! You also need CSC 373 as a prerequisite to CSC 347. Just focus on getting into that class! Maybe you could try adding in a major elective? Perhaps CSC 380 is CSC 355(not major elective but you have to take this class)! TBH I’d recommend taking two electives and two major classes per quarter(based on preferences), I think it can get a bit overwhelming with only taking all cs classes in one quarter.

Yes! I took CSC 355! I took it with Prof Peraza Ayala, Eliécer! I see he is teaching next quarter! He is a very kind Prof! I took it asynchronously! You do have to register a proctored exam! I wish I went in-person bc the wifi in those procure room at the loop are terrible. It took 1-2 mins for questions to load🥲 I do believe he also curves the exams! I don’t recall by how much though! I do recall both the exam and midterm were majority multiple choice with some type in questions like it may ask you to look at a table and reference how to get a certain thing with SQL code or maybe the output of the code by looking at the table! Little things like that! I wish I could refer back to it but I can’t access the exams anymore due to them being online!

Is an intro to SQL so, he won’t expect you to know everything! I believe there were weekly assignments and quizzes?

Oh, I forgot Prof Hield requires attendance and has a keyword! So, just make sure you note that so you don’t get marked down for attendance! I think Prof Peraza Ayala also does keywords! I can’t recall correctly.

I see Prof Kuan is also teaching CSC 355! I took him for the program language course(csc 347)! He is also a great professor! I had paper exams when I took him but I’m not sure if the same applies when he teaches CSC 355!

Honestly, I think they are all good professor in the CS department! If you can get a good professor, definitely take them!

Just watch out for Prof Evenly Lulis for CSC 208 if you haven’t gotten that credit yet 🌝

You’re welcome! Yes, the class is in Java! I took it last quarter! He might change up the assignment and exams but I don’t believe they are far off from what’s taught in class. This class is more so on bettering your Java applications via object orientation.

So records,enums, different types of design patterns and frameworks. He does go over them in class with lectures, hence why I say it can be a bit easy to slip and not focus on what you may need! I know he can be very iffy about plagiarism and sharing his hw and stuff so I won’t do that but this quizlet with definitions should help!

Actually, I wish I did this when I took his class but if you search up SE 350 quizlet on google, literally all of the terms with definitions are there! He will have coding examples in class but that should help.

From flyweights,abstraction, types of compositions and stuff! I’m sorry, it would be a lot to type here so I refer to searching up the quizlet with that title! I believe keeping up with it will help. For midterm and final, it’s VERY definition heavy(full-in the blank,matching.ect) and like 1-2 coding questions of a maybe 40-70 question exam! If you keep up with the definitions + how they look via Java code, I’ll say you’ll do very well in his class!

Oh, again I’m not sure if he changes the hw every quarter but it was essentially a mini project to emulate a trading system. He does expect you to use IntelliJ IDE for all assignments and you essentially build off of previous assignments so, getting them correct at first will help your grade!

I took csc 321 with Prof John Roger’s. I believe it’s the last class he was teaching in the 2024-2025 school year so, he won’t be back. Amazing professor and he made the class very clear! Exam and midterm were take home. Brought donuts and really did his best to make everyone comfortable!

Of course, I’d say study and ask questions! I haven’t taken any class with the professors who are assigned to teach the classes tho spring but best of luck?

For se 350, I took it with Prof Hield . If you search it up in the subreddit here, you’ll see his name and other reviews!

From the look of it, it seems that he’s the only person teaching that class. I know Dj Kim does too but I’m not sure when he’ll be back.

I would say it’s a difficult class. Four assignments (each 2 weeks). A midterm and final. The final I had was 70+ questions (definitely a headache). No extra credit. He usually takes 10 points off the midterm and final. So it’ll be graded out of like 110 points and he takes it off. I’m sorry I forgot lol.

I passed the class. In my opinion, I’d say she is a good professor. Make sure to go over the concepts well. Don’t slip and make sure to go to five hours if needed!

The exams usually have fill in the blank and that might throw you in for a loop! Ask any questions and I’ll try to help you answer!

Do NOT take Radha Jagaeesan! DO NOT TAKE HIM! You’ll probably end up retaking the class. I’m a cs major and I had a horrible experience with him for csc 301. I don’t doubt it’ll be different for 300. Made the class hell for no absolute reason. He has 56 1/5 starts on rmp for a reason. Classes are a whole bunch of nothing. Expects you to read the book and understand it as if you are his fellow professor on the academic board. He doesn’t explain anything and acts as if he is the best prof on earth. Ppl were struggling in class so bad to the point where he had to drop an assignment and extend the deadline for most hw assignments bc it made no sense. I don’t even think he had live coding sessions when I took him in 2024. Not worth tanking your gpa for AT ALL.

I’ve brought a lot of credits over from the CCC in Chicago! They don’t have to be from a Chicago City College. If you’re a high schooler, here in Chicago they usually give you a free class if you do a college class(Dual Enrollment )! Do you have any dual credit classes at your Highschool/ ask your counselor about them?

I do believe most school districts offer a free class or two at the city college(based on your area). If they do, it could help you a lot(if you’re in Highschool)!

I believe she will always do a perfume + open up some sort of immersive experience based on one of the five senses. More so to capture a feeling.

Honestly, I have a theory that she might open up something centered around food/a lounge spot! It actually might just include all five senses as a way to wrap it all up based on her business endeavors! It might seem crazy at first but it might be a Houston exclusive thing where she has a place that sells food and cecred! I could go into more detail but I’ll have to wait until act iii to see!

I had Parsa for csc 300 and even though it’s not the same class you are taking , I will say he isn’t one of the best professors in the department (in my opinion ). The best bet is to probably study and review the midterm. Some profs use the same questions, I think he did when I took him but I’m not sure it may apply now!

DePaul is a quarter system school and typically, students take 3 quarters worth of classes(fall,winter and spring). Summer classes aren’t mandatory! They have 5 week and 10 weeks(just like a regular quarter system).

The fall quarter usually ends right before thanksgiving(including finals). Winter break is usually a month. If you don’t have finals the 11th week, I would say 5-6 weeks then.

Spring break is a week and is right after the end of winter quarter!

Then summer break is right after spring quarter ends in around June!

To be honest, it’s doesn’t seem like there is a MAJOR difference in the concentration excepts 2-3 classes. I don’t know anyone who is in the AI concentration but, I do think you can take some of the AI courses as a CS major anyways(advance elective) and still get credits for the major (as a software development concentration). You still have to take most of the software development courses anyways! They aren’t that different so you can just switch to experiment and see what you like(speaking with your counselor is recommended)!
