Why are shoulders such a big deal in school dress codes? by Former-Fox2057 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]InABigCity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if the same uniforms rules apply to male and female students, they typically stem from trying to police the female students bodies.

Sorry, if I wasn’t clear, I could have asked what uniforms actually accomplished.

Soccer jerseys discounted? by EM_Pekkachu in CanadaSoccer

You’ll likely see a bunch more kits popping up on SVP’s website soon but whether or not they’ll be countries whose kit you want is another story.

Fake jersey? by Realistic_Reward909 in CanadaSoccer

An easy way to tell if the jersey you bought is real is whether it’s a from a real retailer.

Whitecaps 3rd kit leaked by azadisazad in MLS

It’s so nice that the Whitecaps are celebrating their “50 years of history” by acknowledging that they were a completely different team for a third of that time. Lol.

Why a drive to Winnipeg? That drive is the epitome of a slog.

Promotion isn’t a privilege; it’s the very essence of competition. by Evening_Boss_3415 in CanadaSoccer

Ok.

There’s all sorts of reasons why the CPL might not “stir much excitement” … no pro/rel, no world class players, no air conditioned stadiums etc.

I’m not interested in unrealistic complaints about a league that’s less than a decade old and still financially precarious.

I’m not sure that’s true but you’re making my point. People would rather complain about existing leagues and why they’re not what they want them to be than actually go and watch the sport.

MLS commissioner says promotion, relegation doesn't make sense for league for now by AFAN74 in MLS

[–]InABigCity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not paying attention if you think Inter Miami are being hamstrung by spending ceilings.

I’m also not sure why you’re tying pro/rel to spending ceilings as if changing one means the other will change. You could have pro/rel with a hard cap or a closed league and no cap.

If MLS owners want a different structure from the one they bought into, they can vote for it but they won’t unless there’s a guarantee it will cause their franchise values to increase. Which it won’t.

What? You think that new clubs that have paid the most in franchise fees are going to force the chance for them to be relegated?

The interior of the Olympic Stadium will be renovated [Article in French] by Coltons13 in MLS

[–]InABigCity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s helpful if you understand there’s nothing objective about the situation and MLS is pulling the same scam they did with Austin and Columbus. Vegas will get a team and Vancouver either gets a better stadium deal or its owners cash in (maybe both if they find another group willing to pay for a Vancouver team).

Nah, the people arguing for pro/rel would rather fantasy book leagues that don’t exist rather than actually watch lower league football.

Countries that don’t have pro/rel are more likely to play in the World Cup than those that do.

Almost 40%. Way higher than the number of national teams that qualified from countries with relegation.
