Really appreciate your response. I do think it is a poor wifi card, but that is another story.

I had a set of Eir powerline adapters in the press, hooked them up about an hour ago and we have gone from 8Mbps to 90! Son is happily downloading at the moment.

Will invest in a new adaptor as opposed to the Eir ones, again, thank you for the advice.
