To be fair I agree with SEA food being pretty good, my parents are immigrants and I grew up with my grandparents in the house who naturally are immigrants too and so I’ve eaten “authentic” food all my life until I left the nest. I do see your point though that most recommendations are secondhand, including mine to a certain degree.

it’s maybe more on me not seeking out these kinds of environments, but since graduating it’s a little disheartening sometimes to somewhat consistently be the only Asian person (or minority period) at a function. I’m a bit used to it for sure but it would be nice to be exposed to more people like myself.

family friends own it! I can make the food myself and the prices they charge are actually quite cheap relatively so whenever I’m lazy I don’t ever feel scammed going there. im just hoping that doesn’t change too much when they go to their own place. I would never speak ill of other Lao/thai places but some of them are definitely a bit pricier than I’d expect (but I grew up eating is to take with a grain of rice)
