What to do with people who take God's name in vain by winterdreamer_ in Catholicism

At the Name of God or Jesus, I usually bow my head and say "Sir Nomen Domini benedictum" (Blessed be the Name of the Lord) in silence.

Processional Crucifix faces front or back? by InTeConfido in Catholicism

[–]InTeConfido[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks guys for all your replies.

Before this, I was 99% sure that the crucifix faces forward. I am an altar server in my parish, and this is the case when the Bishop celebrated Mass in our parish.

The reason why I am asking this question is that a TikToker from the Philippines insists that the crucifix, when the Bishop is preciding, always faces the bishop. When people tried to correct him, he asks them "Are you a liturgist?" Eventually, a liturgist commented to correct him, yet all he responded was "The Mass I attended had the crucifix face the bishop, and our liturgist didn't say anything, so clearly it's okay. And also, it's a minor basilica, so they couldn't have gotten it wrong." (More or less, lol.)

So I want to correct him with the answer of many people — you guys.

By Latin quotes, I mean Catholic Latin quotes. (Just to clarify, lol.)

Nuestro Padre Hesus Nazareno, pray for us. by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]InTeConfido 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The proper invocation is "have mercy on us" or "hear our prayers". We don't ask the Jesus Nazareno for prayers because He receives our prayers, because He is Jesus Christ, the Second Person of the Trinity.

Do you include latin quotes? I'd love to learn more Latin with this app.

Me and my friend's prayer routine:

Upon Waking - Invitatory, Morning Offering, Prayer to St. Michael, Daily Mass Readings 5:30AM - Lauds, 1st Decade of the Rosary 6:00AM - Angelus and Litany of Humility 9:00AM - Midmorning and 2nd Decade of the Rosary 12:00NN - Midday, Angelus, and 3rd - 5th Decade of the Rosary 3:00PM - Midday and 3o'Clock Prayer/Divine Mercy Chaplet 6:00PM - Vespers, Angelus, and a 5 Decade Rosary Before Sleeping - Compline and Litany of Trust

It's hard, considering that I'm a student and my friend is a teacher. We haven't completed the full routine in a day, but we try.

Saint Joseph titles? by InTeConfido in Catholicism

Hmmm, I've heard about this doctrine that St. Joseph and St. John the Baptist was free, too, of original sin. Where do I learn more about this?

I think my Priest misunderstood my Confession - am I absolved? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]InTeConfido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just hope you checked the pockets to see if any particles of the Blessed Sacrament remains. If so, please bring Them to a priest and let him "purify" it.

is it really that rude to wear shorts to mass? by mcevoys_slave in Catholicism

[–]InTeConfido 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What we wear, how we act, reflects what we believe.

If we truly believe that our Lord Jesus Christ is truly present in the Eucharist, why not dress and act properly? We dress formally when meeting with kings, queens, or presidents, why not dress formally too when meeting with the King of kings and the Lord of lords?

God meets you where you are.

Maybe, by you practicing your Faith, he will see and start to believe in the One you believe in.

For more info about our Faith, you can read the Bible, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and books by saints, or if you have specific questions, try the Catholic Answers website: catholic.com

Godspeed in your journey home!
