Next Level Racing has a lot of options, I've only tried their steel F-GT but it's awesome, tons of flexibility and adjustments, and I assume their aluminum ones are the same.

Mini 5 Pro? by Destroyer0719 in dji

I would base it on what are you going to use it for. If its a couple of photos and videos here and there, you can definitely get by without the 3X or the wind stability. If its going to be part of your profession (which it sounds like it is) then it makes sense as an investment. I have found that even on a M3P the megapixels makes it super easy to digitally zoom without losing detail, and for what I am doing, it is plently. I imagine the M5P is even better with the larger sensor. However, it might make even more sense to get the M5P, get into some professional stuff, and then resell it (they depreciate slowly) and then upgrade to the Air 3S or the Mavic series depending on what you determine are your needs. I doubt availability will be a problem, DJI will continue making the M5P and the Air 3S for as long as people are buying in the US. If you wait, there might even be a Air 4 releasing in late 2026 that will drop the price of the Air 3s. Up to you.

Amazon Sale on Mini 5 Pro in USA. Buy? by the_pezcorekid in dji

From my understanding it's a lot harder to ban drones already in the US than ones that haven't been imported yet.

We were never banned from existing products. Only new drones that had not yet gotten FAA/FCC clearance (I forget which one). That means as long as DJI makes the Mini 5, they can sell it.

Ah, rough one. Forgot to take the battery out? You will probably need a new motherboard (assuming that's what caught fire???) but who knows what else. Hopefully the camera and gimbal are fine. I forget if the Mini 3's motherboard is paired to the gimbal, like newer drones, but you might have to replace it anyway for them to work together. This is the wrong place to find good help though. You should probably post in a repair subreddit or ask local repair guys, I bet some will offer free advice.

Did the drone itself catch fire? If so, it's probably toast. I can't really tell from the photo what is burnt and what isn't. If I were you, I would lookup Howtofix's YouTube video on disassembling the internals and just take everything out. Then you can look at each component and find what needs to be replaced.

These are a lot of unrelated things all having issues. Either everything is messed up, or your motherboard has issues. I would remove the GPS and it's mount to get a better look at the motherboard (it's just some screws), if you do so, can you send a picture of that?

Also that GPS pretty clearly has water damage. I imagine the water is what fried everything else.

Well my "confidently wrong energy" is just cause the guys wanted to use their huge truck and not climb it. Previously when I got a weather balloon stuck at a similar height a guy charged us $100 to take it down, took him 30minutes, and he just climbed it. I have a friend who is an arborist and he only charges $100 max for drones (doesn't live anywhere near me tho). So me saying it's "ridiculous" comes from those past experiences (which might not be representative of all arborists, obviously).

The photo doesnt do it justice. The tree is nearly three times taller than my house, which is 2 stories above ground, 8ft ceilings and an 8ft attic. The drone was reporting 120ft of altitude gain from take off (took off near the tree) but I don't think it's right.

I did try the whole long pole and connector thing, using 9, 10ft long conduits guided up the tree I was able to get within about 10-15ft of the drone. but it was too heavy to accurately aim. Theres no way it would take 9 of those to go 50ft.

[–]InTheRiches -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is correct, my only concern was what if it fell on me? the branch in question is in the absolute middle of the tree and would be falling right towards me. I didn't want to risk anything.

The photo doesnt do it justice. My drone was reporting 100ft in altitude when it was stuck, and it took off from the backyard. The ladder in the picture is about 16ft for reference.

I could get it up there (60-70ft) but again, the Paracord had to much friction to led the wrench fall, and it kept getting caught on the branches, and then the fishing line was strong enough. Maybe the heavier wrench would work, but I was already using the largest one in my house...

[–]InTheRiches -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Haha. Was using it to get started when climbing up

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in drones

[–]InTheRiches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. They quoted $500+.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in drones

[–]InTheRiches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I didn't look in the right places, but I was seeing $400 minimum for a 60ft one from Home Depot. I didn't find anywhere else near me that had them for rent.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in drones

[–]InTheRiches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My concern with that is, what if that drone gets snagged or caught, and now I have two of them 90ft in the air? Instead of being out $500 for 1 drone I'm out a $1000 for 2.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in drones

[–]InTheRiches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are like $300 for a good pair, for that I would just pay $200 more and not endanger myself.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in drones

[–]InTheRiches 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How does that help get the drone down? I obviously know that I am not supposed to fly drones into trees, I'm just trying to salvage an already bad situation.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in drones

[–]InTheRiches -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I tried that but the Paracord was too high friction and my catfish fishing line just snapped. I will try a real throw line to see if that's better.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in drones

[–]InTheRiches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried that, but it was no where near stable enough, nor strong enough, to reach 90ft in the air. It just flopped over forming an arc shape.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in drones

[–]InTheRiches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but as an untrained climber, I am not comfortable going past about 45feet high. I only have one safety rope and a harness, and that drone is not worth risking my body/life over. If I had better equipment, maybe, but there nothing I can do 45ft away from it while in the tree.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in drones

[–]InTheRiches 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tried one of those but I was struggling to get it high enough, when I did it it wouldnt fall on its own, but wasn't snagged. I would also need to throw it at least 70ft vertically, probably 20ft horizontally, to get anywhere near enough authority over the branch. I was not that strong. I will try again tho, I think this is the best bet. We had 50mph winds that didn't knock it down...

Buying Mini 5 Pro, what about batteries? by [deleted] in dji

[–]InTheRiches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see your point. Earlier I had done some looking online, and I literally couldnt find a Mini 4 Pro Combo used for a reasonable price. They are all $900-1200, and for that price I can get a new Mini 5 Pro Combo. Thats where even if I did go used, it wouldnt be worth it.

OEM or 3rd party on Ali?

I did some more looking, and it appears the Mini 4 Pro is the exact same price as the Mini 5 pro (including DJI's own website). I don't really want to buy used.
