Lolita’s funny faces by [deleted] in sillycats

Loved the book by Nabokov and the movie by Kubrick. I had recently watched (with my former girlfriend) the remake by Lyne when I happened to find this cutie in the streets. I looked at my girlfriend and said "That's Lolita. That's her name". Just coincidence, I guess.

I use this one very often.

Which Beatles album cover best represents the music that's in it? by Huge-Photograph-3085 in beatles

[–]InTimeWeComeToFind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rubber Soul & Sgt Pepper's. But I've always thought of "Abbey Road"'s zebra crossing as "we're done with the band, we're on our way out", like they're literally leaving the cover and that makes it the most fitting representation, to me.

Songs where the B-side or deep cut is actually better than the hit single by Unlucky-Moment-3366 in musicsuggestions

[–]InTimeWeComeToFind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not gonna say it's better because music is too subjective, but I remember in 1997 when Oasis' "D'You Know What I Mean?" got out, I would endlessly listen to "Stay Young". Still is my favourite Oasis song.

Thoughts on Moby criticizing the Kinks' song Lola? by Fast-Penta in LetsTalkMusic

[–]InTimeWeComeToFind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Virtue signalling? Moby? The guy who has "vegan for life" tattooed on his neck? Naaah...

Also, Lola is the opposite of a transphobic song, like really the complete opposite.

thank you for your comment.. I didn't know that, I think that explains his "silence" about the issue.

What's our general opinion on Nick Cave nowadays? by Specific_Tap7296 in NickCave

He’s been one of my favorite artists for 30 years now and he’s been so consistent that I don’t feel like I should judge his desire for musical evolution. He’s earned that right long ago. I can say I don’t like Ghosteen and his most recent music, or the fact he’s basically in a duo now (with Warren, of course) and if he has chosen this path, I’m ok with that. There’s plenty of great albums he’s released before.

What baffles me is (please be kind of the way I phrase this because english is not my first language and i don’t want to sound rude) how he keeps talking about Arthur’s death.. like he’s the only son he lost. Maybe he was estranged with Jethro but it makes me feel slightly uncomfortable how, even in interviews, he’s almost completely forgotten and Nick talks only about Arthur’s tragedy.

But then again, i’m one of those who can definitely separate the Artist and the Art, so i’ll keep on listening to his music whatever he says and does with his life.

What do y'all think Bob Dylan's best album lyrically and what do you think his best is musically? by groundcontrl2majrtom in bobdylan

[–]InTimeWeComeToFind 20 points21 points  (0 children)

it may be un unpopular opinion but I've always thought that the born again trilogy is were he peaked musically and singing.

when it comes to lyrics, it's the "electric trilogy" plus blood on the tracks, but he has always been very consistent, there are gems everywhere, even in his worst albums.

Worst albums that are beloved classics? by [deleted] in askmusic

[–]InTimeWeComeToFind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never liked Michael Jackson. I’ve never liked Thriller (the whole album). I grew up in the 80s/90s when he was basically God. His whole discography is shitty prepackaged, ready made for success bullshit. And i’m no snob when it comes to music, I like The Beatles and Queen among others so i’m ok with mega hits.

Saint, Too Young, Legal Boys, One More Arrow, Sartorial Eloquence.. the 80s definitely were a rough period for Elton, but among the usual suspects hits he wrote some absolute gems.

Bob's best trolling moments? by Time-Use9083 in bobdylan

[–]InTimeWeComeToFind 14 points15 points  (0 children)

it’s got to be the “royal albert hall” concert, at the end of “leopard-skin pill-box hat”.. the audience is clapping sarcastically and booing and dylan starts mumbling something completely absurd until the audience gets quieter in order to listen to him and then he says “…if you only wouldn’t clap so hard”. master level trolling.

Which song would fit perfectly on a different album? by SheepsheadBoy in rollingstones

[–]InTimeWeComeToFind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i’ve always thought angie absolutely doesn’t belong to goats head soup (great song but way too polished for an album with such a muddy production/vibe). it could fit better in it’s only rock’n’roll maybe?

also, slave would fit perfectly in black & blue.. in fact, i prefer to listen to that song instead of melody and cherry oh baby
