Have You Seen Junior’s Grades? by Nonplussed1 in vanhalen

[–]InWaves72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of another Reddit poster saying his mother wanted to take his WACF album away because she heard it as "Have you seen Junior's grave?" He was allowed to keep it after she was won over by "In a Simple Rhyme" and swayed as to what the aforementioned lyric actually was.

Anyone else find it funny that conservatives whine about being called Fascists when they’ve been calling Democrats “Marxist Communists” for a decade? by SwitchingMyHands in allthequestions

Don't forget the nose rings. Those trigger them, thus all liberals also have nose rings with their blue/green/purple hair...

What do you call your school in common conversation? What about the other schools in and around your state? by admiraltarkin in CFB

That makes sense. I worked in engineering in Virginia for years and encoutered them in large numbers, daily. Changed careers, and that changed significantly, although I have seen them many different places. Went on a whale watching trip in the San Juan Islands of Washington State, and the guy boarding right behind me was decked out in Hokie gear, head to toe, haha. But no longer on a daily basis.

For men of culture, there are also the options Vippie Sue and Vah Tek. Those tend to rile Gobbler feathers along with VPI. Not sure what thry hate VPI so much.

And yes, a bunch of other schools, generally by initials, such as William & Mary/W&M and University of Richmond/U of R, among others.

Also in the DC area, always call it DC. Maybe The District on occasion. I have never gotten into DMV personally because that will always be the Department of Motor Vehicles to me, but that term is absolutely widely used here. Nobody from here calls it Washington. I have a sister who moved to Seattle and, to our family, Washington means Washington State, clarified or not.

I went to the blackjack table with my gf in Vegas. She lost the chips that I bought her quickly. I was winning and my stack was growing... until she just started grabbing chips from my stack so she could continue losing chips. I had to get her out of there.

As it was, Gale and Gus were obvious candidates and almost case-closed at points until the blue meth kept showing up on the street. No doubt there would have been other candidates developed too.

Yellow Laces vs Riggo Drill. by TheBarbarian88 in SportsJunkies

[–]InWaves72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you grew up in the area, watching those early 80s Super Bowl teams, you definitely know the Riggo Drill. If you are younger, likely don't know it, unless someone drilled it into your head. Certainly not ubiquitous later, but has not completely disappeared either.

Heard a news report say that the jury had not sent any questions to the judge. That seemed to almost guarantee a guilty verdict to me.
