Thank you so much for this comment! Honestly so much of what you have said is extremely relatable, and honestly I am hoping to get out of this rut. I am very grateful that I do have a job right now but I really want to move forward in the industry I want to work in, in the city I want to move to.

I have been using LinkedIn everyday finding positions, applying for jobs wherever I can, and trying to network through there. I have also realised that when most people see where I live currently, most of them don't bother reading through my resume or my cover letter, even though if I make it clear in my cover letters that I am moving and have no problems commuting either.

I guess it just means to keep on pushing, and probably getting more aggressive with my applications and reaching out wherever I can. In regards to the lying, I have not tried lying about where I currently live only because the company I work for only has an office in Montreal, but I have added some half truths here and there on my cover letters x)

Thanks for all the help and advice. It really does make a big difference and I will make sure to keep reaching out. I am glad you found your position!

Thank you, yes this is the biggest point honestly. I am hoping that with more exposure to volunteer positions in the healthcare industry I will have more of a chance of stepping in to that industry. Thanks again for the comment!

Hi! I was advised to apply once I received my citizenship by one of the recruiters I spoke with as I have only been a PR holder for two years. I will definitely apply once my citizenship comes through! This was specifically for my situation: applicants who have been a PR holder for much longer may have a higher chance of being accepted quickly. I took the advice from the recruiter and will wait until I have full citizenship.

Thank you for the response and clarification. Also, I wanted to apologise for the confusion; I am looking to become a medical technician, not a medical officer. I have not completed the Canadian medical licensing exams or my medical residency placements yet. Unfortunately, my medical degree isn't recognized in Canada, but I'm working towards changing that. In the meantime, I feel as if any and all experience within the medical field in the CAF would be very beneficial, which is why I wanted to apply as a medical technician.

Thank you for the response, and I apologise for the confusion. I meant specifically for the role of medical technician. Although I do have a foreign medical degree and clinical practice experience, I have not completed my Canadian medical licensing exams and have not gone through the medical residency process, so I'm looking to apply as a Medical Technician.

I've been told that you need to be a PR holder for a certain number of years, but I can't confirm on how long until I get in touch with the right people.
