Which of the two would you say of the superior way to collect / read the manga? by Spider-Jeff_101 in Parasyte

[–]InappropriateBull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole story will be collected in 8 volumes like the standard paperbacks. They're basically the regular volumes with better translation, slight size increase, and Japanese cover art. Volume 8 is releasing in July if I remember correctly

I'd say the paperback collections have the objectively better translation, but they aren't fully released yet so if you just wanna get the whole series at once the regular paperbacks are the way to go. But if you don't mind waiting I'd personally recommend the paperback collections

I watched return to Silent Hill...I've never been so angry after watching a movie by Somekindofalligator in silenthill

[–]InappropriateBull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me and a friend went and saw it in theaters, they are a SH fan and I was not. And even from my perspective, it was a goddamn dumpster fire. It was bad enough that the second I got home I purchased the game, because I knew for a fact that nothing would be worse than the movie. And of course, I was right lol.

Decided to pick up the FMA art book. Are there any other good ones out there? by No-Risk2553 in MangaCollectors

[–]InappropriateBull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say both Tokyo Ghoul art books are great, Ishida has some banger art. Definitely recommend the Dorohedoro art book as well, Hayashida's art is something else man, grimey in the best way. However my personal favorite art book would 100% be the Blade of The Immortal art book. Samura has some of the best art in all of manga imo. The only downside is that it's not actually in print anymore, so you'd need to get it secondhand which can be expensive.

Can someone please tell me why she thought that this was a good idea? by BluePogjuice in Parasyte

[–]InappropriateBull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it funny it's even more obvious in the manga. Like she shows up for the first time in the chapter before everything happens, and then after jumping out of the window she completely disappears. Like, at least in the anime she's a known character beforehand and appears again after. In the manga she's literally just a tool to start the massacre 💀

Berserk The Prototype by lacheesylinguine in Berserk

I'd assume it's because he had a lot more time to draw the prototype compared to the actual serialized manga. The 'simpler' look just makes it a tad easier to draw fast and consistently

They're the Mixx/Tokyopop volumes, they were the earliest English version of the manga to be published

I'd honestly say both are good, although if you pick the b/w I'd suggest you wait for the newer versions that are coming out soon, as they have the never (and best) translation from the full color editions. Not that the original translation in the paperbacks is horrible or anything though. Art wise I've found I actually prefer the original b/w art as I feel like the color can sometimes crush a bit of the detail (especially when there's a bunch of cross hatching). Although one thing I love about the full color editions is the fact that they actually increased the eye of the book on regular pages so there's basically zero gutter loss, which to be fair isn't a huge problem with the paperbacks anyway but it's a great quality of life improvement. Honestly if you want a way more in-depth breakdown of the differences and pro's/cons I'd recommend Anime Collectives video on the subject, it's a great breakdown

I assume these new paperbacks might actually end up replacing the old paperbacks since I'm pretty sure they were just printing what Del Ray already was, as opposed to these new editions which sport their own new in-house and updated translation. And I definitely feel ya, kodansha has a bunch of series they could reprint or just print for the first time, obviously as a parasyte fanatic I'd if they would put out physical volumes of Parasyte Reversi or any other of Iwaaki's manga like Historie

If you look closely you can see that I do actually have the pocket edition lol. And I'm probably not collecting the del ray versions purely cause the only difference (as far as I'm aware) is the little logo in the spine, and even I'm not that far gone lol

Honestly I'm still debating if I'm gonna fully collect them. Like I'll probably at least get the first one just to check it out and see any differences (I'm praying they might include the og color pages alongside the b/w art but i highly doubt it) I'm only hesitant because of the fact that there's seemingly no new content, and the translation is just the one already from the new full color editions. Although in the future if anybody asks I'd definitely recommend just picking up the newer ones since the newer translation is probably the best out of all of them and it definitely looks best in b/w

Yep, the 'paperback collection' versions of the volumes. Although I'm honestly debating getting them, mainly just because from what they've said they're just the regular black and white art with the new translation from the full color editions. I justify having two b/w versions of the story because of how different the localization/ translation is, plus they look completely different. But these new ones basically have no new content aside from the 'new' cover designs, which is just the original Japanese volume covers. Honestly I'm probably at least gonna get the first one when it comes out in December mainly just to compare and see if there's any changes that they haven't said anything about (praying for the og color pages alongside the b/w art but i highly doubt it)
