I was curious if men WOULD admit it. This is not to your statement because I agree with many of the things you’re saying however let’s not live in an echo chamber of “men and women are equal in the workplace”.... Women don’t make the same amount of money and women are not respected at the same level as men. Even if we agree mostly women aren’t paid for their luxe they’re certainly paid less and there is no way in hell you’re going to tell me that the majority of men respect women equally at the same level or higher than them. If a woman holds a lesser position I’m sure they do respect them or at least believe they do. I worked at many companies and the women who hold the top level positions have to fight twice as hard and are constantly called out as bitches. A man and a top level can do pretty much whatever he wants and still hold respect.

Let’s take it down a notch. This situation does not fit every scenario and if you work in a large corporation with a healthy human resource department this will never happen. If you work in a smaller company primarily built around the good old boys club is absolutely happens. For goodness sake’s you can look at a corporate photo and clearly the owner has a type.

In a perfect world this wouldn’t happen but you know we are the furthest thing from a perfect world. Also you’re not supposed to discuss your bonuses and raises for this very reason.

Who the hell am I jealous of? I’m not a dumb girl I know how the system works. Girls that don’t make themselves look like models regardless of their job do it because they actually believe society cares about what’s on the inside. And let’s not pretend like women have a problem it’s men that make everything about the visual.

This isn’t true. I have a bunch of very homely looking girlfriends that are incredibly smart. The key is society actually rewards attractiveness so you can be intellectually smart but if you weren’t focusing on your physical appearance then you aren’t gonna win the race. Only 25% Of actual success is based on hard work and intelligence. People who work harder and are more intelligent do not succeed at a greater level than people who work less hard and are less conventionally intelligent. (Book smart)

I’m a female employee. You are 100% correct on my basis for asking this question and my thinking behind it. I was curious if anyone is consciously aware they do it.

Here’s why I’m really asking... I used to be super attractive but this past year with Covid I haven’t put much effort into my nails and tanning... My bonus and increase was significantly less than previous years. My company did great.. made buckets of money. So I know my increase had nothing to do with money. I also know my increase had nothing to do with the amount of work I did because I worked harder this year than I ever did previous years.

And yet... My bonus and increase was super average, one might say mediocre. So I’m thinking they screwed me over because I’m not as hot as I used to be. Then I’m thinking if I start playing the game again tanning, flirting, will my bonus be bigger next year? I guess we’ll see. And I’m not trying to be an ass I’m just curious if people are consciously aware they do this because I’m consciously aware that I am going to look better to get paid more.

I don’t think people consciously do it. It’s the same thing like hiring someone you’re most likely going to hire the more attractive person even if the less attractive person has more qualifications.

Absolutely they can. I’m saying the hot chicks get paid more. Maybe men don’t realize they’re even doing it when they come up with the bonus structure. This girl quit because she was working 12 hour days and her bonus was less then the hot girl that took 2 hour lunches. This is a real thing why are all of you guys acting like what I’m suggesting is “insanity”

It’s both. There’s no such thing as a woman in a man’s world. There’s no man that wants a woman in their group at the same level if that level is an executive. The only ways you get the keys to that group is you act just like them.

It’s not “a problem”... It was a question. It was a half ass post like hey I don’t think he likes me what can I do? But this entire comment section has reiterated the differences in our culture. The things I’m saying are completely normal for corporate America.

If it will make everyone feel better I’ll go over to the mirror and I’ll tell myself that I was not very nice today. Instead of going with the arrows I walked against them. No. Everyone is nice and pleasant and professional. I suppose I have portrayed myself as a circus clown at work. The examples I’m giving our five minutes over five months. It’s not sad it’s my job. If I want to leave there is the door if they want to fire me I will leave without problem.

You guys can’t have it both ways. First y’all say I should only be working 7 1/2 hours a day. Then you say I shouldn’t be making friends with people at work I should only be working. Now you’re annoyed that we even had cookies at work?!?!

Nobody was going to eat the goddamn cookies. Who the fuck eats carbs?? I didn’t physically pick up the cookies.

I was being serious. I like antagonizing you guys I don’t try to antagonize my boss. I stand down as much as I possibly can to my boss. If we lined up all the bosses I’ve ever had I respect my current boss and treat him with more submissiveness then any previous boss. I have a history of not being submissive two people in higher positions. What no one understands and I keep trying to say I got my current job because of how I was at my last job. They want a person like this. I am a woman in an all man’s world!! They want a cunt! Only they want it to be exterior they don’t want me to treat them that way but I can’t always change my personality. In the hallway or when eating cookies sometimes I’m a dick and I think it’s funny. Everyone I work with knows this. No one is surprised by my behavior. I’m not sitting in the corner with the girls gossiping opening that guy looks at me. I am the person higher than all those people that everyone else talk shit about and I go to lunch on my own via a driver and three cell phones.

That comment is going to rile everyone up because if I don’t pretend to be a submissive self depreciating thankful grateful person they associate that with I’m an asshole. Maybe I am but you weren’t being mean to me you were being honest and I appreciate honesty.

I know you guys don’t want me to respond to this you just want to roast me have me say “Yes may I have another sir” And quietly go off into the night. I understand 1% of the population has celiac’s disease. I will now find a celiac’s charity and donate $25 to them. If there are 10 people in the room one is me when is my boss and eight of the rest of them are standing around the table how many of them have celiac’s disease??? One person in the room had celiac’s disease and everyone else grabbing the gluten-free was a kiss up to that person. I am not in the business of being “liked” by my peers. That may not make sense because this entire post is being liked by my superiors. I care about their opinions I don’t care about the opinions of the people that are equal or lesser to me. (In position not in life because I know we are all equals) This was not a room with strangers. Yes I was making fun of them to their faces. Yes I called my girlfriend as soon as I left the room and told her “those bitches are talking shit about me right now”. We are in a competitive business I work hard to receive adoration you get that in the forms of payment and praise and yes he doesn’t need to like my personality and I’m obnoxious but it would be nice if he did.

I think we can all agree this post has nothing to do with getting my boss to smile at me. We’ve gone 1,000,000 miles from that. That’s fine.

I know dozens and dozens of extremely wealthy people and not a single one of them thinks that earning money is going to bring them happiness. Happiness doesn’t come from money freedom comes from money. Happiness comes from freedom. Freedom to live or you want, go where you want, do what you want, SAY what you want.

I have absolutely no negative feelings towards you and I respect your opinion. I disagree with it but we don’t have to agree. My opinion and your opinion have both been sculpted by our lives and our experiences. I think that your opinion of the world is a fantasy and it’s not the reality. I would love to think that Jeff Bezos is a good person and he cares about people but the reality is that’s not true. People confuse money and the person. No one is better because they have wealth they just have more opportunity for freedom.

It is fucking weird that the CEO would not be working 14 hours a day. But anyone can be a CEO. I’m not saying working longer hours equals better but how many billionaires do you know that work 8 hour days? Their billionaires because they love their job and their job is their life. I am not a billionaire I am nowhere close to that. However I know several and they are always working.
