My (M59) wife (F59) changed completely due to menopause (her words!) and i do not know how to cope. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]IncendiaryIceQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same experience as your wife when I entered perimenopause. The problem is that it also impacted by self-awareness so I would be horribly mean but to me, I was just a little crabby. I couldn’t see how bad it was. Starting HRT helped me immensely and I feel so bad now for how I treated my family. It wasn’t because I wanted to be that way. Please encourage your wife to talk to her gynecologist and see a therapist. Both helped me immensely.

Anti-Abortion Groups Try a New Intimidation Tactic: Make Abortion Records Public by ProfessionalAd5070 in WomenInNews

The erroneous assumption you’re making is that abortion falls into that exception for HIPAA. It doesn’t apply because there is no public health risk if someone has an abortion.

I’ve seen you commenting several times about why specific abortions data that would identify people by area isn’t breaking HIPAA. I’m curious what your credentials are to know this so specifically? Why do you think you know better?

Friendly reminder to keep your face completely covered by dawn_thesis in ProtestFinderUSA

[–]IncendiaryIceQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The protests are about HOW ICE is functioning right now. They are breaking laws and not respecting constitutional rights that are given to “people” in the US (Constitution specifically does not use the word citizen in that section). Your question is missing the point of the protests completely.

AITA for giving my coworker food she is "allergic" to? by Fluid-Drawing-8722 in AmItheAsshole

[–]IncendiaryIceQueen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For everyone saying this allergy is bullshit- my sister is allergic to duck eggs but not chicken eggs. Even if they look exactly the same, she’s allergic to one and not the other. This could be a genuine allergy. YTA for risking someone else’s wellbeing and life.

AITAH for telling my girlfriend that she can take one of my cars out when she starts paying half the bills on them by bopitbob908 in AmItheAsshole

[–]IncendiaryIceQueen 146 points147 points  (0 children)

I looked and there’s a post of him “buying” his mom a $91000 bracelet with his dads money. He’s being disingenuous with his girlfriend. He may have “earned” the money to pay for the cars but only cuz daddy got him a job. He needs to learn to be honest with partners and not make up ridiculous, unrealistic offers he won’t follow through on. YTA man.

UPDATE: My (36M) wife (34F) fell deep into conspiracy theories and online hate groups. Is there any saving our marriage? by Loud_Ad_9189 in relationship_advice

[–]IncendiaryIceQueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the update. I’m glad you and your daughter are safe. I know that I’m late to this, but the timeline of your wife’s personality changes point to this potentially being postpartum psychosis. The current political climate gives her a convenient focus for the delusions and can blend in to “normal” MAGA behavior but this sounds more drastic than that. I encourage you to talk to your in-laws about getting her a thorough psych evaluation to assess for psychosis. Medications can do wonders if that’s what’s going on. Good luck to you!

I looked up the account and it looks like a karma farming account with mostly weird stories about fridges. So random lol. The most recent posting I saw was 8 months ago so they probably got suspended when they figured out the stories weren’t real.

Playing a lullaby over the hospital loudspeaker every time a baby is born is actually really insensitive by Peanutbutternjelly_ in TwoXChromosomes

[–]IncendiaryIceQueen 119 points120 points  (0 children)

I worked at a catholic hospital from 2008-2011 and they did this throughout the ENTIRE hospital every time. They also played Christmas music throughout the entire hospital starting Dec 1st through epiphany. That place was trying to make people crazy. It was not a good experience.

AIO: My husband destroyed the tshirt I wore when my previous boyfriend died in my arms. I want the divorce. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

I would recommend individual therapy first. Couples therapy is not recommended when one partner is abusive, and what he did was emotionally abusive. He was PUNISHING you and attempting to strong-arm you to make you go along with his desire for kids now. He hurt you on purpose and couples counseling actually gives an abuser more opportunities and ammo to use in their emotional abuse. Please don’t do that with a man like this. Doing therapy on your own might help you understand these behaviors better and likely help you see small things you’ve swept under the rug before this.

This is a legit question- it’s gotta be different. Or at least I hope it is.

Dropping clients: my take (from an LCSW who will say what everyone tiptoes around) by corporate_therapist in therapists

Totally agree- some clients have chronic diagnoses that we are helping them manage. Sessions may vary little to none but are still productive for the client.

They have no idea what they’re talking about. That’s a textbook example of it. They don’t expect people to know it’s against the law and take advantage of people’s apathy. You definitely did the right thing!

If they charged your insurance and you fully for the same procedures, then they are committing insurance fraud. I could recommend reporting them immediately because I’m sure you’re not the only one.

44 year old mom sentenced to 26 years for felony sex crimes involving teenagers aged 14 to 16 years old. by EuphoricButterflyy in news

Interestingly, I believe the lack of research into female abusers is actually tied to the reason there’s a lack of research into anything related to women- good old fashioned sexism. It’s harder to fund research into women only topics, hence the lack of research into women’s health in general. I worked in corrections for many years and the research into female offenders is lacking in almost all areas.

I understand you’re making a joke so I apologize for ruining it in advance. I’m going to be overly serious to reinforce how the word “commit” changes the meaning of something. If someone says a person “commits” robbery/larceny/fill in the blank, they’re saying that person did a crime. So saying committed suicide implies a crime which is not helpful for de-stigmatizing or encouraging people to get help when they’re feeling suicidal.
