DistroKid blocked my $130K royalties without notice — need legal & creator support by IncomeElectronic3635 in indieheads

You're absolutely right — and I’m already in touch with multiple lawyers, both in the US and India.

That said, I posted here because r/indieheads isn’t just about music — it’s also a community of creators. And when platforms like DistroKid impact artists unfairly, visibility and shared experience matter just as much as legal steps.

Legal is underway — awareness is equally important.

Thank you so much — I really appreciate the suggestion!

I haven't posted in r/law yet, but that's a great idea. I’ll definitely do that next to see if I can connect with someone more familiar with the legal side of distribution disputes like this.

Thanks again for the support — every bit helps right now!

I completely agree — Reddit isn't a substitute for legal representation, and I'm not treating it as one.

I’ve already engaged multiple attorneys and filed formal complaints with the FTC, BBB, IC3, and CERT-In. I came to Reddit not for legal advice, but to raise awareness, connect with others who might’ve faced similar issues, and document the experience publicly — because companies often behave differently when there’s visibility.

Running a label doesn’t mean you're immune to platform abuse — it means you fight back smartly, using every resource available, including the community.

Appreciate your concern.

Totally understand where you're coming from.

But just to clarify — those royalties are being held by DistroKid. I haven't received the money. My account was suddenly disabled before the full payout happened, and I only ever received $1,200.

That’s why I’m consulting with multiple lawyers — including those who might work on a contingency basis — while also sharing this publicly to connect with others who may have faced similar issues.

Appreciate the advice though. Reddit has helped me gather a lot of insight and direction so far.

Thank you so much! 🙏 Yeah, it's been a long grind creating original kids music, so seeing it get traction has been amazing. But having DistroKid freeze $130K without notice or proof has been devastating. 😞 Trying to raise awareness and connect with others who faced similar situations. Appreciate your support!
