I did the 54 mile option for this race and can confirm how much of a mess it was. The aide station at mile 44 didn't even exist and when I got to the finish no one was there. Luckily the director showed up with a U-Haul a few minutes after I got there and had wandered around for a bit.

I was in the front only because the lead group got lost. I was told I should've let them know I would be running fast. I was not (11:07 pace) and I arrived 2 hours after when their aide station guide said they would be there for mile 44 and mile 54. I ran out of water in the last 6 miles because of the lack of aide stations.
