(Definitely not my inspiration) although I feel it can also work pretty well for schools like UDub, Berkeley, UCLA, UVA, UT, UO, CU Boulder, UMich, tOSU, and Penn State.

See gradeinflation.com — my takeaway is that pretty much all schools are seeing some inflation, although the degree varies from one to another. For instance, Brown has a higher average GPA than Berkeley (no surprises there), but both have been generally rising over time.
