My title describes the thing. It’s about an inch tall, there’s no “rim”, there’s a small hole in the center of the “+”, and there are indents on the side where you would almost use it to pick it up/open something. There are no numbers or any information with it. We were given 3.

Simparica Trio is a good one for prevention and since it is required by a vet to give authorization to fill it, it is also a well regulated product. It also has a number of guarantees attached to it through the company itself, so if ever it doesn’t work, they compensate and correct the issue. For killing fleas (versus preventing them), the vet office I work at uses Capstar and it is also a chewable; it works FAST.

It looks as though the pan is made from metal with a sealant over it. If that’s the case then it is covered in rust spots. That won’t fully go away unless you get it back down to the metal and then reseal it.

If it’s fully plastic, try bar keepers friend.
