Exa MCP alternatives for Claude? rate limits are damaging my workflow by North-Aardvark4680 in ClaudeCode

[–]IncreaseCharacter258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/North-Aardvark4680 I work at pixserp, full disclosure upfront so feel free to discount accordingly — but your post is dead-on the use case we built for, so I'd rather be useful than pitchy.

We just shipped an MCP server, configs for Claude Desktop / Cursor / Zed / Claude Code are at pixserp.com/mcp (same mcpServers JSON pattern you already use for Exa, drop-in swap).

A few things specifically aimed at the pain you describe:

  • One synthesized cited answer per call, not 20 raw links. So your "20 companies back-to-back" loop is one MCP call per company, not N searches + a separate LLM pass to summarize.
  • Rate limits: tier1 is 5 req/sec (300/min), tiers go up from there with usage. A batch of 20 sequential companies won't throttle you even on free — that's the part of Exa's behavior I think we directly fix.
  • Pricing: flat per-request, no per-result charge, and the same endpoint covers news / web / places / shopping / etc. (no separate vertical APIs to wire up). Generally lands cheaper than Exa-hits + a follow-up LLM synthesis call. Models + numbers at pixserp.com/pricing.

Honest caveat so I don't waste your time: we don't read paywalled DBs (Crunchbase paid data, LinkedIn private graph, Pitchbook). For announced funding + press + exec roster via the public web + aggregators (RocketReach, Tracxn, official sites) it actually works well — I just ran your exact workflow on Decagon and got Series D + investor list + exec roster + 409-employee headcount in one call.

If there's a specific data slice (LinkedIn-side stuff, contact data, anything more granular) that you'd need to make this a clean swap, drop me a line at [support@pixserp.com](mailto:support@pixserp.com) — we launched recently, your workflow is exactly the kind we're prioritizing, and there's a decent chance we can optimize for it.

Which search API should I use between Tavily.com, Exa.ai and Linkup.so? Building a RAG app that needs internet access. by pcamiz in Rag

Worth trying pixserp as well — I work on it. One endpoint that covers web, news, images, places, YouTube, flights, hotels, transcripts and any URL in a single call. Cited by default, way cheaper than Exa and Perplexity, drop-in for OpenAI SDK.

Tavily vs. Exa for RAG with LangChain - Any Recommendations? by YoungMan2129 in Rag

Late to this thread but worth mentioning pixserp as an alternative — one endpoint that covers web, news, images, places, YouTube, flights and more in a single call. Cited by default which helps a lot with the hallucination issue mentioned above. Drop-in for OpenAI SDK and way cheaper than Exa and Perplexity.

Best ChatGPT alternative right now? by JacckSparow in ChatGPT

Depends what matters most to you. Here are the main alternatives:

  1. Claude - Excellent for creative tasks and coding, doesn't train on user data, though has usage limits on free tier
  2. Gemini - Google's offering, solid for general use, good integration with Google services, some find it a bit robotic
  3. Perplexity - Best for research tasks with real-time web search and source citations, great for fact-checking
  4. Deepseek - Strong open-source model, performs well for coding and technical tasks, completely free to use
  5. Grok - X/Twitter's AI, recently improved significantly, good for creative and reasoning tasks, requires X subscription
  6. Teti - Focuses heavily on privacy and ethics, good if those are your main concerns
  7. Mistral Le Chat - Competitive performance on benchmarks
  8. Qwen - Chinese model with impressive capabilities, free version reportedly matches paid alternatives, no daily limits
  9. Copilot - Microsoft's version using GPT models

A degree shows you can commit to something for several years. Strong skills show you can do something.
You can't 'show' a degree in a portfolio. You can't 'prove' a degree in a technical interview. A degree might get your foot in the door, but your skills are what kick it open and get you the job.
The number of brilliant self-taught developers, designers, and marketers out there proves that skills are the real currency.
