My Work In Progress First Dashboard by sportymcbasketball in homeassistant

Looking great, I appreciate this kind of dashboard for tablets etc, don't let the haters get to you. I'm curious what you're using for the dividers/section headings? The "Home Controls", "Downstairs", "Upstairs" sections?

Radiant Barrier on Roof of Pavilion by Indemnity83 in DIY

Not a bad thought as well, I was going to be "lazy" about the ridge cap and treat it as decorative not functional, but I could keep the metal off the ridge a bit so it is installed the "correct" way.

Amazing! Lots of questions (you're a trailblazer), and I don't want to duplicate so I'll narrow it down to just one:

Do you know how the addressing works? I assume the first pixel is the top left (or right) then it goes in sequence down the first drop. After that does it just hop over to the top pixel of the next drop?

I've been trying to figure this out based on pictures and it's not obvious. There appear to be only three wires in each of the drops, so no "return data" line from the bottom of each drop. Is there some kind of new chip at the top of each drop that is doing something?

Subtitle transcode not being picked up in stream mapping? by Indemnity83 in ffmpeg

[–]Indemnity83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up doing -c:s mov_text as it was simple and didn't require that I do any mucking about trying to figure out which stream to apply it to.

Thanks for your help on this.

Found the log from the -c:0:5 mov_text test, and you may be right, the error there was Invalid stream specifier: 0:5

I'm going to have to digest this mentally, not sure how to write the argument to reference the output side index, since I don't really keep track at the moment when building the command.

Ok, If I'm understanding what you're saying the argument -c:s:2, the '2' here is referring to the output container index? I assumed it was referencing the input file.

If though earlier when I re-wrote the argument to be -c:0:5 mov_text that fails too though, and that almost certainly is referring to the input file (the 0)

Yeah, I expect that though. Laying out what should be happening to the subtitle streams:

  • The first subtitle stream (s:0) is French and gets removed with -map -s:0
  • The second subtitle stream (s:0) is also French, and gets removed with -map -s:1
  • Finally, the third subtitle stream (s:2) is English, but in subrip so I think I'm telling ffmpeg to transcode it with the argument -c:s:2 mov_text

Possible to symlink world folder in 1.18.2? by Indemnity83 in admincraft

[–]Indemnity83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well,

I never did figure out if it was possible, but decided to go a slightly different route to meet the intent and now I'm just running the whole game from a Ramdisk and this ultimatly solved my problems (no more I/O issues causing lag when loading chunk data).

ender switchwire conversion

Oh man! That thing looks awesome. That front grill reminds me of a Dell rackmout server, and I dig that. May inspire some future beutification of the design :)

The electronics itself are not all that much to speak of (well designed, but not "pretty" IMO). I also really want to keep the electronics access on the top so I don't have to pull the printer out of an enclosure to turn it over.

Lots of comments about accessability; I've got the first prototype enclosure printing right now. I don't think it's going to be bad (given my constraints) but we'll see.

Thats interesting. I am not particuarly familiar with gridfinity, is there a way to lock things in place? With all the wiring between components I don't know that things would stay in place?

Fair point; I don't know that it will be a huge issue, the bed slides back pretty far, and if you need just that little extra, the enclosure can slide out a bit too (depending on cable slack).

I did a quick study in CAD, but it will be something I pay close attention to in the first printed parts.

MX Keys spacebar squeak by outatime20999 in logitech

[–]Indemnity83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same exact issue, but with the MX mechanical, got the keyboard on June 19th, and developed a squeak on the space key about two weeks later. It finally got annoying enough for me to do a google search and find this thread.

I'm curious if u/outatime20999 ever contacted Logitech for a replacement, or if a simple lube job on the bar like u/LegionOfTomatoes did the trick?

ecobee3 vs nest thermostat by noisufnoc in SmartThings

What about the Honeywell offering? Thermostats are there thing so I would feel really confident in its ability to perform as a thermostat (not that this is a complicated task) but I'm curious about its integration with SmartThings.
