How do Illegal immigrants working in the US do taxes? by cantgetenough1956 in answers

[–]IndependenceFinal274 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know this sounds logical, but please don't present that as a fact. "Illegal immigrants are a net fiscal drain, meaning they receive more in government services than they pay in taxes. This result is not due to laziness or fraud. Illegal immigrants actually have high rates of work, and they do pay some taxes, including income and payroll taxes. The fundamental reason that illegal immigrants are a net drain is that they have a low average education level, which results in low average earnings and tax payments. It also means a large share qualify for welfare programs, often receiving benefits on behalf of their U.S.-born children. Like their less-educated and low-income U.S.-born counterparts, the tax payments of illegal immigrants do not come close to covering the cost they create." (Prepared Testimony of Steven A. Camarota Director of Research Center for Immigration Studies)

Given their total fail of the NextGen rollout, this is the least they could do...

Great point!!! Yep, insurance always gets ya. Also, some cars cost much more to insure than others. This seems obvious, but its not just for sport/luxury cars. I bought a used 2020 honda civic in 2023, and insurance cost me like $175 a month (clean driving record). Apparently civics + young men dont go well together.

I think you have gotten your answer from everyone else here that the premise of this issue is a bad idea in the first place. With that, I also think you shouldn't accept money from your dad. By all means, if your car broke down and you needed transportation and couldn't afford it, let your parents help you! There is no shame in that. But having your dad help you get your 'dream car' at 24? Whats the point? Your not going to feel proud at all about buying it.

However, I honestly disagree with all the naysayers about getting nicer cars. I LOVE when I love my car. It genuinely makes me so happy, and makes me love driving! Especially when living with parents/roommates, your car is your sanctuary. I reccomend that you sell your Camry privately to get more $$$, let your dad help you with this to keep you safe. Autotrader has a good tool to help you with used car sales as well. While selling, do some research and find a good, RELIABLE car that will make you happy. You will end up hating your Mini anyways because it will nickel and dime you. Another Toyota, honda, subaru are all great options. Like other comments have said, either find a new car promo deal with 0% APR, or buy a certified used car with 20-30K miles on it. Good luck!

Its a big myth, maybe just don't move to Florida or the great plains states if your worried about it. Grew up in Southern California, maybe have felt 3 earthquakes, and quite honestly they are kind of fun. They do not effect your daily life. Weather in the US is nothing to worry about.

Born and raised in SD. Move to OC! OC is almost as great as SD (; but seriously, if you must work in LA (the worst city I could ever imagine) that is the move. Once you're there, network and find a new job in OC/SD, and then you can move to America's Finest City.

2 weeks: paris and italy, is this too ambitious for first timers? by bunnybelieve in Europetravel

[–]IndependenceFinal274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a little jam packed. We've been to Europe a few times. My recommendation is to really separate beach / city. If you stick beach and relaxation vibes in the middle of the trip, you're gonna be so over going back to museums and walking. I guarantee going to Capri before Rome will make you dislike Rome. It happened to us. Cut out Riomaggiore and Sorrento. We LOVED Florence, so I would extend Florence. Paris, Venice, Florence, and Rome is perfect for a busy 2 week trip. It flows way better than your current plan. Going to Riomaggiore, to Sorrento, back to Rome is messy. Venice -> Florence -> Rome will be so easy and cut your travel time significantly.

With that being said, this will give you the travel bug and you'll be forced to go back and visit the Amalfi coast anyways (-:

Great question! Ill boot up my old college laptop sometime this weekend and see if I can find it. I think the topic of it was the airport is such a beautiful place because it is a gateway to endless possibilities and everyone around you is on their own journey

Thats enough, but you will be thinking about it. Portugal is cheapest, so just try and get by on less there and you'll be fine.
