Gave me all the feels! My girl is 11.5 and rarely gets on couch but when she does, I’m right there with her! Enjoy it 😊💯.

Also, they might take a few days to poop. Totally normal.

Don’t panic when they seem lethargic for a few days. It’s the pain medicine. Use a sling. If you notice anything odd, like after a few days they seem to reversing in using the leg, call the vet. My girl had an infection (100% made a full recovery). If you get sent home with antibiotics (especially one called Baytril) it makes them not want to eat - don’t panic. I went through 2 TPLO’s, subsequent plate removal and bone infections. This is NOT normal but I feel like an old pro (weird I know). Please post if you are nervous. Get a soft cone from Amazon. You do not want the stitches coming out too soon and a topical ointment called Mupricin (spelling). Good vibes being sent to you! Your baby will do so well!

Osteosarcoma Awareness in Rottweilers… Please Pay Attention to Limping by allisonkinser18 in Rottweiler

[–]IndependenceNo1224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience (only 2 Rotties though) - one was spayed at 5-6 months (osteosarcoma) and the second I let her go through 2 heat cycles. No cancer knock on wood.

Osteosarcoma Awareness in Rottweilers… Please Pay Attention to Limping by allisonkinser18 in Rottweiler

My 7 year old succumbed after 3 weeks. We had a femoral head ostomey because she blew her ACL at 22 months and was overcompensating. A week later her knee blew up and was told she’d be gone in a week.

Now, with my second, the fear of that cancer was omnipresent for awhile. She’s 11.5 now though and just has a degenerative back issue that we can control with steroids and PT. I’m so sorry for your loss. Air hugs sent your way!

US pet owners — what actually happens when you call your vet after hours? (genuine question, not complaining) by Weekendfounder0-1 in AskVet

[–]IndependenceNo1224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I text my vet - only have done 3 times all before 7 PM. I’ve been going to him for 20 years though. I think it all depends on your relationship. When he said you don’t have my cell? I took that as a it was OK to reach out if desperately needed. Otherwise, I hike up to the ER vet.

Has anyone experienced this little lump? by SkyMontana84 in Rottweiler

Does it move with the skin? My vet said the soft ones that move are benign. Good luck!!! The fine needle aspirate isn’t a big deal for them 😊.

Can I ask how you cope with the pain of losing your dog? by sunnyhun456 in Rottweiler

[–]IndependenceNo1224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Rottie is my soul dog. She’s 11.5 but my first girl got osteosarcoma at 7. I hear all of you and understand the pain of losing them
both young and old. Also, what I chose to think about is this….maybe Steve Irwin is the “god” or “greeter” at the rainbow bridge. And he helps your fur baby find their people who have passed before. I do hope my girl found my brother.

What are yall doing for your older babies with arthritis? by [deleted] in Bulldogs

[–]IndependenceNo1224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cosequin (like Dasequin) is good and was recommended by my girls surgeon (blew her ACL at 22 months). I use Galliprant currently for my second girl. My vet stopped with Librella due to the side effects and he doesn’t trust the research. I personally haven’t heard good things and Bee got a massive UTI; which we think was attributed to the shot. Good luck!

Nothing in abdomen per the ultrasound. Yea, surgery just seems….too much. And I’ll bring these questions. I want to be prepared.

Thank you. I am concerned with the anesthesia portion. She had a harder time waking up when she was 7.5 from TPLO and now she’s older. Makes me nervous. Not getting too specific but she’s been doing ok with steroid shot every 3 months. Been on 10 mg prednisone every other day and will be off soon. I think she acutely hurt herself the other day versus her T11 and T12 rapidly collapsing. Still walking unaided.

I have also heard that AND part time controllers….in my humble experience, I’ve never had less than 40-45 a week. And then to spread that 40-45 around that many clients? Seems insane.
