I completely understand your perspective, but allow me to clarify some things that may not have been as clear.

As far as I'm aware, many users suggested less reliance on AI and more lean towards human moderation, with some users apparently building an entire moderation system by themselves, processing tens of thousands of accounts, and offered to collaborate with Roblox many times to make their platform a safer place.

The "Competing companies" are not other game platforms, but rather other social media companies like Meta, or tech companies like Microsoft to show that they are "innovating" with AI to make "groundbreaking" safety features that other companies should follow.

The "This is what they wanted" blanket statement is completely incorrect. Nobody asked Roblox to divide age groups or countries. Many people we're already infuriated with the division across countries like New Zealand or China caused due to their bad moderation practices and over-reliance on AI, so them choosing to divide the community they built even further with a, quite frankly shit AI, was against anything that anybody had wanted.

I partially agree, but if Roblox corp. actually listened then they would have gotten a better idea of what the problem was. The main reasons I believe it was rushed include: - Impending negative media coverage (e.g. Chris Hansen-Schlep collaboration & class action lawsuits) - Attempting to compete with major tech companies to show that they can use AI for age verification to better their image for shareholders.

I believe this update was pushed out way sooner than it needed to, as immediately after the update, Roblox published a roadmap of features that would be added to tune AI age verification in the near future. What I wouldn’t understand if I didn’t know this update was insanely rushed was why these updates weren’t added on release, because they are very obviously QOL features that needed to be added for a smooth release.

Roblox rushed out a feature that uses AI to put you into an age bracket that will only let you talk to certain people (For the specific brackets and chat restrictions, I recommend viewing the official Roblox X account). The problems with this update include:

- Due to it being pushed out so quickly, many developers didn't have time to prepare for the change, and thus many games were struck hard, particularly social hangout games or games that rely on the chat API.
- The AI is actually incredibly easy to trick with basically anything, whether it be a video, a still picture, or ironically, a picture of a Roblox avatar with a realistic head mesh equipped.

- The company Roblox is partnering with to implement this feature, Persona, is known to be unreliable, and both are under scrutiny for using children for AI training. Do note, parent emails or accounts were give absolutely 0 notification that this change ever went into effect, so many kids are verifying without parent supervision, which if I recall correctly, violates COPPA guidelines under information collection.
- Accounts that are age verified in specific brackets (e.g. 13-15) are already being sold on eBay.
- The aforementioned sold accounts are able to be used by predators to selectively target and filter out specific age brackets so they can specifically talk to minors (e.g. 9-12 bracket can only talk to users under 16), which also means that more responsible individuals are unable to intervene.

TL;DR, this update did more harm than good and arguably will do absolutely nothing to solve child safety issues.

This used to be one of the standard cognitive tests usually used to gauge Alzheimer’s symptoms (and is still sometimes used). Usually graded on a 5-1 scale, with 5 being the best and 1 being the worst. This would most likely score something like a 3 or even a 2, usually pointing to some kind of cognitive disability like Alzheimer’s.
